  1. It's called a counterargument. You criticized a few Democrats for this, and I in turn went after an important Republican. I can tell you that air travel is the most efficient method of traveling around the country. What else should Gore and others use? Republicans like George Allen are the biggest users of free lobbyist-provided private jet flights anyway. I really hate this reasoning and it's a big part of why i really dislike the course of modern politics - it's just bickering with no resolution - this guys a crook, well so is your guy so what's the point?! regardless of party, anyone who is using the enviroment as their strongest issue, should live in a manner that is consistent with it it's an arguement and that is correct, but it really isn't debate or political discourse - even now when people criticize bush and other point out what clinton did - regardless of affiliation, hold the individual (not the party) to a degree of performance, consisentcy and integrity - if they fall short, it doesn't necessarily ruin the ideas behind a platform, it just means that maybe that isn't the best person to carry the message gore making a movie about global warming and then hoping in a private plane and SUVs is contradictory - however, that doesn't necessarily sway the arguements about if global warming is a true concern (which is the real debate - not the messenger)

AI > Arenas and Nowitski and Pierce.... at one point maybe - but not anymore - i'd put him about the same level as arenas right now - i think most of it is his own fault, but most people haven't seen all that he brings to a game, but he looks to be wearing down whenever I see him - injuries mounting, etc he is still very fun to watch live though

LeBron Duncan Wade Kobe Nowitzki Garnett and I hesitate to put kobe that high - there is more to being a good basketball player than ability - a big reason why arenas isn't on my list - some people get it, some don't - wade has always gotten it, which is why he led his team to the title, why he led marquette so deep in the NCAAs and why he is rising fast - LeBron seems to get it to, although with the team around him he hasn't had a chance to show it kobe flat out does not get it, garnett struggles with it as well (but in a different way)
  4. also for what it's worth they sold out of season tickets over a month ago - they held back 3% of the capacity to sell on an individual game basis to those on the season ticket wait list and the general public (probably only 1,000 seats will hit general public onsale) the cards have all the opportunity in the world to grab this city - if the fall flat this year there will be a long crawl out
  5. i've been to 7 on that list and i'd put NY & Paris as my bottom two of those 7 I'd rank the ones i've been to as follows: edinburgh, london, rome, amsterdam, SF, NY then Paris
  6. about 63k expandable to about 73k
  7. no permanent seats there, although there is a concourse bridge that goes above the field opening the stadium in total will add 10,000 seats for special events (super bowl, BCS Title game, etc..........) and I assume some will end up going there somehow
  8. i remember living in arizona for a few years and like phxphin said, they will appreciate being in the shade all season long. that stadium looks amazing although from the outside it kinda looks like a huge bubble which i dont really like. i just wanna see them roll the field out. yeah, they tried to mirror it off a barrell cactus and then work some native american stuff into it as well - to me it looks like a spaceship or a giant jiffy pop
  9. i went to a game a few years back, seahawks/cards in the second week of september - it was 108 out, even warmer in the stadium sitting on the metal bleachers of Sun Devil Stadium - only game I've ever been to where fans were moving higher up in the stadium (to be in the 3 sections that had shade from the press box - it was only like 8 rows though.............) absolutely brutal - it really doesn't cool off here until mid october and it is always sunny (i don't think i've been to a game without picking up some sunburn) - so the roof will be nice the baseball stadium out here has a retractable deal and I actually think they keep it closed too often - even on days where it's only in the high 80s / low 90s they keep it sealed up - out of the sun, those temps are fine
  10. it's been fun watching this thing get built - what is equally nice is the Glendale Arena right next to it, which has heavy construction building up an entertainment district a fall cry from the vast cotton fields that were there 4 years ago check this out if you have a minute http://www.westgateaz.com/ they have a lot of the framing up for the first phase and some of the places should be going by year end - by the time the SB rolls around in 2008 the area will be one of the best in the valley - which isn't bad for an area that people used to frown on in a city with a very bad rep
  11. yep ... it's so fun watching these kids come around - expectations aren't as high as in years past, but that doesn't change the game - i like the makeup of these kids - after the frustration of all those 1 run losses and blowing late leads, it's really good to see that they are learning how to win out there young guys will be prone to inconsistency, but this streak comes with some bats being a little off - just need those bats to get in order to round out when the pitchers get a little tired or off on a night fun stuff

I loved listening him talk about how he developed the concept for the show, like it was some high train of thought that we needed broken down for us .............. i'd love to kick that dude in the teeth
  13. I think the weather nuts here would get a kick out of our dust storms and monsoons here is a couple pics from a storm we received about a week ago - there was some rain a little earlier, but by the time it hit the city it was pretty much a dry wall of dust (I can only link to the slideshow.....) http://www.azcentral.com/php-bin/commphoto...al.com/weather/ and here is a link to just some info/pics about the monsoon http://www.azcentral.com/weather/monsoon/
  14. that was the first game i've been able to watch from start to finish this year and I loved it - nolasco has a ways to go, but all the makings - just great efforts all around - glad this team is getting it going - hopefully by months end (in my very optimistic world) the fish will be 3rd in the division.............

don't like it but it should be protected
  16. it's pretty rough at it's peak, but all in all i'll take 105 with our humidity than 90 with high humidity ..... now when it gets to the days where it is 120+ during the day and still 100 at night and it's monsoon season, that's a different story misconception that dry heat means no sweat - you still sweat, but with a relative lack of moisture in the air, as everything stabalizes to equilibrium your body cools and dries a little faster - as opposed to the humidity where the sweat just sticks on you they had a fire drill at work the other day, so after trouncing down 11 flights of stairs we had to stand in the sun for 30 minutes - in work clothes - could feel the sweat - sucked There goes that BS about desert heat being more tolerable isn't the story arguing that desert heat IS more tolerable than Miami? Or it's at least saying that miami heat is more intolerable, therefore transitively meaning that desert heat is more tolerable. that's how I read it - although we sweat more here, you guys are more uncomfortable because of the humidity
  17. technically you cannot release someone just on the basis of their conduct with the CBA - however it can be done (the seahawks just released a backup OL after a domestic violence charge) - while the player can file a dispute, that could hur their chances of latching on with another team maybe the bengals are waiting until the first round of cap cuts to make it seems like it could be a performance related cause and not have to worry about a grievance
  18. that's crazy - how about if you get a relief check and you don't need it, donate it to a shelter or some other group that is giving aid and rebuilding neighborhoods - you can still get some tax benefit and the FEMA funds go to people who actually could use it
  19. Amazing what they measure and what can make international newsline from this country........... Phoenix sweats most but Miami suffers more Wed Jun 14, 2006 9:25 PM BST NEW YORK (Reuters) Phoenix on Wednesday was named the sweatiest city in the United States, but Miami topped the list as the most uncomfortable American city due to its mix of humidity and heat. The fifth annual sweat survey sponsored by Procter & Gamble Co. handed the dubious distinction to the Arizona capital for the third time. El Paso, Texas, earned the title in 2004 and San Antonio, Texas, in 2002. The study of 100 cities estimates the amount of sweat a person of average weight and height would produce walking around for an hour in the average high temperatures of a particular city during June, July and August. The latest survey found that the average Phoenix resident produced 26 ounces (0.77 litre) of sweat per hour during a typical summer day last year when the desert city's high temperature averaged 93.3 F (34 C). It means that in under three hours, Phoenix residents collectively produced enough sweat to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool, said Jay Gooch, sweat expert at Old Spice, a Procter & Gamble Co. antiperspirant brand. 20. yep - i'm jealous - i haven't been back in about 3 years - eat & drink until your hearts content - if you are killing yourself at the tourist traps I recommend picking up a quick lunch at reading terminal market and then taking it into the beer garden there and consuming over a pitcher of yuengling - one of the best lunch options in the city, imo
  21. won't watch - although I dig Carlin - went to his show about a month ago out here and it was very funny
  22. and the hits keep on coming - feeding booze to 3 underage chicks while driving nothing like making on some teenagers as an NFL player.................... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2484220
  23. i really don't dig the face, unless the airbrush is in full effect but with that said she's still attractive - the playboy spread should be great as they have some of the best airbrushes in the business
  24. sad to hear this ... after he retired he worked for a bar in philly called chickie & petes ...... they had an operation in the vet and it was always something I looked forward to, getting to the game early and having a beer talking baseball with this gregarious, good natured man I agree with sentiment above when letting him know that he can keep calling the strike zone however he pleases, as long as the marlins win he'll be missed
  25. yay - clay! such a specialized surface - kid draws interest a month or two out of the year on a surface and style that is entertaining as far as the mens game goes still would rather watch the women play anyday
