Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-rumors-stanton-tells-marlins-which-teams-hell-waive-no-trade-clause-for/ "The problem for the Marlins is building enough leverage to get a good return. As much as they want to clear payroll, I can't imagine trading Stanton for fringe prospects in a straight salary dump is a consideration. There figure to be enough teams interested that the Marlins will still get a quality return with several good prospects. Possibly several great prospects. One thing Miami would have going for them in trade talks with the Dodgers is reported interest from the Giants. San Francisco has been after Stanton all winter. Pitting the NL West rival Dodgers and Giants against each other in a bidding war -- or the AL East rival Yankees and Red Sox, or the NL Central rival Cubs and Cardinals -- would be the best case scenario for the Marlins. For now, the Marlins have time on their side. The offseason is still relatively young, so they can be patient and let the Stanton market develop. That they now know which teams Stanton will waive his no-trade clause to join makes the front office's life a little easier. There's no more guesswork involved"

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
"Any player under contract may be placed on waivers ("waived") at any time. After MLB's July 31st at 4 pm trade deadline and through to the end of the season, a team must place a player on waivers if that player is to be traded. If a player is waived, any team may claim him. If more than one team claims the player from waivers, the team with the weakest record in the player's league gets preference. If no team in the player's league claims him, the claiming team with the weakest record in the other league gets preference. In the first month of the season, preference is determined using the previous year's standings. If a team claims a player off waivers and has a viable claim as described above, his current team (the "waiving team") may choose one of the following options: arrange a trade with the claiming team for that player within two business days of the claim; or rescind the request and keep the player on its major league roster, effectively canceling the waiver; or do nothing and allow the claiming team to assume the player's existing contract, pay the waiving team a waiver fee, and place the player on its active major league roster. If a player is claimed and the waiving team exercises its rescission option, the waiving team may not use the option again for that player in that season—a subsequent waiver would be irrevocable with a claiming team getting the player essentially for nothing.[6] If no team claims a player off waivers after three business days, the player has cleared waivers and may be assigned to a minor league team, traded (to any team), or released outright. The waiver "wire" is a secret within the personnel of the Major League Baseball clubs; no official announcement of a waiver is made until a transaction actually occurs, although information sometimes leaks out.[6][7] Players are often waived during the post-July "waiver-required" trading period for teams to gauge trade interest in a particular player.[6] Usually, when the player is claimed, the waiving team will rescind the waiver to avoid losing the player unless a trade can be worked out with the claiming team." "• It's important to note that teams expose most of their players, except those on the disabled list, to revocable waivers at some point during August. So that act, by itself, does not mean much, as there is no risk involved." http://m.mlb.com/news/article/140073380/guide-to-baseballs-waiver-trade-system/ I f anyone believes The Marlins would have let Stanton go for whatever is the ongoing waiver fee without anything else in return I would say they been hitting the glass pipe a bit too often!

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Every year upper tier talent gets put on Waivers and do not get claimed players like Andrew McCutchen, who I understand been on waivers the last 2 years it doesn't mean the team is offering them up for free to the rest of the league it just gives the flexibility of making them available for trade if an attractive offer came along There have been several instances where other teams attempted to claim some of these players to which they were quickly taken off waivers... I mean you don't have to be a baseball insider to know that much

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Penguino I value you opinion always but I agree to disagree on this one I really believe that there is small bidding war on Stanton BTW Bald Eagle no one made claim for Stanton on waivers because it would have been silly to do so since he would just been pulled off waivers by the Marlins anyway That is a non-point you just made sorry to say

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Do you actually believe that? I would tend to hypothesize that Stanton is worth enough to any team to take on that salary... I don't believe they are doing the Marlins a solid by trading for him or expect to get him for free If you think Stanton is overpaid then you are not in agreement with most people in baseball Actually what is being indicated that for what salaries are trending Stanton is actually a bargain The main concern is Stanton's ability to opt out after 2020 I have posted before many Teams cannot absorb that type of salary without taking a hit in in Salary Tax but teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers can afford it Stanton would give the Yankees a lineup that would remind many of the 27 Team now why would they need these prospects that you say they wouldn't give up if their lineup would be set for years to come (besides they have many other prospects coming up their pipeline)

Please refer to this article about Clint Frazier for better understanding of his status in NY https://elitesportsny.com/2017/11/25/new-york-yankees-time-winding-clint-frazier-pinstripes/

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
Excellent Reading https://nyyankeesdigest.com/yankees-acquire-giancarlo-stanton-trade-happen/ Scenario 1 "The Yankees will take Giancarlo Stanton and his full contract but the Marlins will have to do the Yankees a solid. His name is Chase Headley and $10 Mil owed in the final year of his contract while the Yankees will eat $3 Mil of the contract. With that veteran leadership the Yankees will also ship Clint Frazier, Tyler Austin, and Luis Cessa in the deal. The Marlins get a young arm, a MLB adjusted outfielder in Frazier and a first baseman/right fielder in Austin as protection in case they lose or refuse to pay Marcell Ozuna. Done and done. Cashman manages to give up two prospects that will not have Rule 5 protection in Austin and Cessa (so they will lose them anyway), a stud in Frazier is lost but so it Chase Headley which allows Castro to move to Third Base making room for Torres. It is a stretch but it could happen and could end with the “Yankees Acquire Giancarlo Stanton” headline we were talking about." Scenario 2 (3-way deal including Seattle) "Jacoby Ellsbury and his whole contract wave their no trade clause to go home(ish) to Seattle. He also brings Tyler Austin and Dellin Betances with him to Seattle. Giancarlo Stanton waves his no trade clause to move to New York City and play ball for the Yankees until at least 2020. The Bombers also add the arm of 2015 2nd Round pick Andrew Moore from Seattle. The Marlins get full Giancarlo Stanton salary relief from the Yankees as a start. The Yankees also send Clint Frazier and Luis Cessa to Miami. Miami also acquires Edwin Diaz from Seattle as a young, cheap, controllable closer type." I am so intrigued by these scenarios it a hell of a lot better than what the Giant could ever offer I understand this comes from a writer's imagination but I would be satisfied with it although I believe that another potential starting pitcher like Domingo Acevedo or Luis Medina should be added as well coming back to the Marlins , even though I would hate seeing a lineup that had Stanton and Judge back to back for the next 5 years this would make a competitive Marlins team in 2018

Jeter's Payroll Trimming Plan? Trade Stanton, Gordon, and Prado
Stanton and Gordon are not bad contracts that is why they are trying to trade them because no one wants the other bad contracts (Wen, Tazawa and Volquez) However with Stanton and Gordon, few teams can easily absorb their contract without costing them a lot more in payroll tax so either the Marlins would have to get players with high payroll back or keep some of Dee and G's salary Prado is a bit of a different story He is an excellent player however due to age and injury history his marketability is hugely diminished... Nobody really knows how many games they can get out of him anymore, that is why he has so little trade value The only way he could be traded is as a throw-in with the Marlins picking up most of his salary There is a reason everyone is asking about Ozuna , Yelich and Realmuto Youth performance and price tag in salary I apologize if for many of you I have just stated the obvious

Stanton traded to Yankees for Castro, Guzman and Devers
I know the operative terms used is names involved I would find what the Giants are offering not entirely acceptable for Stanton only and totally scandalous if it were for both Stanton and Gordon. I like Beede but the fact is that he pitched awful this season upon his promotion to AAA I know you don't judge talent entirely on performance but it does raise a flag in how prepared he is to be able to step into the Marlins rotation right away Panik is a pretty good 2nd Baseman but he is far from Gordon's level as a hitter and as an igniter of offense yes he has a GG but he is not as rangy as Gordon Shaw is pretty much their only major power hitting prospect but he would need to play LF and would need to prove he is not a defensive liability because at Marlins stadium LF is pretty tough I would say without Arroyo and Crick included there is no deal to be made here

Fish acquire Cooper and Smith; King and money to Yankees
I think the Marlins found a legitimate starter for their backend of the Rotation 95 MPH Fastball (can touch 98 MPH), slider and changeup Excellent K/BB rate Low HR rate He would have had to been protected on the 40 man Roster We got him on the cheap I like the trade a lot Cooper looks like a very nice bat, Right-handed 1st baseman that can play the Outfield as well It seem that the Yankees just gifted us these guys ...In Cooper's case , he had Bird, Headley and maybe even Tyler Austin ahead of him

Longtime general manager: Dealing Stanton not enough. Let’s torch this thing.
Otani might not be the best example right now but the bottom line is that money is better invested in growing the scouting dept and in player development also bring in the Moncada types and other higher end International signings
-
Longtime general manager: Dealing Stanton not enough. Let’s torch this thing.
The Marlins game are transmitted daily in Japan because of Ichiro That would have been a huge lure Otani would probably prefer the Yankees because he can DH when he is not pitching there another factor is that the Marlins are only able to offer 1.74 Million vs 3.25 million available to offer by the Yankees (Yankees planned better)
-
Longtime general manager: Dealing Stanton not enough. Let’s torch this thing.
I get the signing of Chen at the time but it has left the Marlins in a financial bind for a player who has done nothing in a Marlins uniform. $hIt happens They are basically eating that contract other teams avoid these contracts giving themselves out options under these circumstances Chen's contract does not allow for it I am saying it would be wonderful to have that 15 million available to sign Otani instead
-
Longtime general manager: Dealing Stanton not enough. Let’s torch this thing.
Well so much for that one... International signings has lately seem more about money however it is equally or more about scouting at a basic level I know that there is a huge investment in players like Otani... but would you prefer spending your money on Otani or on Wei-Yi Chen? I guess The Marlins preferred Chen I get it that it looked like Chen was a good signing at the time but it just wasn't and now he has the Marlins by the cojones...They signed him to that contract that is probably why we are looking to needing to trade our only ever MVP now. Hill has been the one orchestrating these bad decisions and terrible moves... Obviously Loria's ownership restricted his options but he has never been up to the job either KC and Houston did it with less money We did it with less money ourselves Hill is simply just terrible at his job
-
Longtime general manager: Dealing Stanton not enough. Let’s torch this thing.
There is so little positive under Hill to speak of in any capacity...His biggest attribute was big lips to kiss Loria's big ass! I guess maybe signing Donnie Baseball has been ok Look at what the Marlins been doing trade-wise lately, I could swear Hill is secretly being paid by San Diego The draft has been a disaster for the last 4 or 5 years International signings has taken a huge slide talent-wise and even in quantity They did do well with Bour in the Rule 5 draft back in 2013 (Minor league) the jury is still out on those selected last year Loria has no hand in scouting which has been simply terrible

Stanton and Ozuna win Silver Slugger awards
Players like Stanton and Ozuna don't just grow on trees Stanton is a generational player Remember when I said the Marlins had a better Outfield than the 2 teams that were in the 2016 World Series I didn't mean it as group but none of the 6 outfielders that were starting in that World Series would have been able to start for the Marlins This year Bellinger and Springer would likely be the only ones that could start in the Marlins Outfield I don't believe you would play Taylor or Puig over our starting 3

Chen elects to stay with fish
Chen sticking it to the Marlins... I mean sticking with the Marlins I didn't like the signing at first but hey at least he is loyal :SlowClap

Jeter's Payroll Trimming Plan? Trade Stanton, Gordon, and Prado
Boneheaded moves???
-
Jeter's Payroll Trimming Plan? Trade Stanton, Gordon, and Prado
Realmulto, Yelich, Bour and Ozuna with some decent additions can compete as long as there is an upgrade in starting pitching which is highly improbable... Urena would have to become a solid #1 Conley would need to step up and be a stable #2 (He does have the talent) Strailey needs to just be more consistent he was plain horrible at the end of the season I do like Despaigne as the 5th starter Somebody will have to claim the 4th spot in the rotation, most likely, that person is not in the organization yet... Stanton's bat is impossible to replace A prospect like Eloy Jimenez could ease some of the pain if somehow the Marlins could find a way of trading for him

Baseball America's Marlins top ten prospects
On a bright note the Catcher that the Marlins drafted in the 1st Round in 2014 that no one knew or ever heard of Blake Anderson is now a full time pitcher after hitting .173 Avg .519 OPS in 3 minor leagues seasons at A level or lower...His biggest hitting stat was that he had 13 HBP in 37 games Great find Michael Hill!

Baseball America's Marlins top ten prospects
Kolek is learning how to pitch again He pitched 3.2 innings gave up 14 BBs allowed 13 runs and the kicker is that he threw 9 wild pitches on a positive note he only gave up 4 hits All this was in Rookie League at age 21

Jeter/Sherman target $90 mil payroll
Chen maybe could be traded to the Yomiuri Giants
-
Jeter/Sherman target $90 mil payroll
The problem is Volquez injury The team is stuck with that anchor around its neck Volquez and Prado drop the Payroll to 98 million trade Chen and its down to 88 million
