  1. Fran, This past offseason the NHL along with it's TV partners used film from the games to evaluate umpires. It is foolproof since you use the same replays we would regularly see at home. I think we need some sort of replay challenge. It is a game of inches and the umps are human like many of you say. Mistakes detract from the game. that wouldn't be a bad idea, I think we should have replays for everything but balls and strikes, I think that would be great. Yes, I agree. Balls and strikes are no-nos with the challenge. But hit batsmen, close plays on the bases (such as yesterday's) and things of that sort should be allowed to be challenged via camera. Remember, they can be challenged without a camera and the ump has to hear the argument. This reminds me of a couple of years ago. You remember when the umps looked at the replay a couple of years ago when cliff floyd hit it off the scoreboard at the pro and they looked at the replay to see if it was a home run.

  3. It's a pretty big coincidence that he is called up from umpiring Minor league games just in time for the Marlins/Phillies series and he does a horrible umpiring job during the series at that. Jim Wolf has been in the big leagues for at least a year I remember they did a story on Jim and Randy on sportscenter last year.
  4. The problem is that Umps have TOO MUCH POWER! If baseball wants to review umpires they need to do something similar to the NHL. You use the TV cameras, not some proprietary system to judge the ump's performance. If they don't perform they are sent down to the minors, or in severe cases, terminated. No, I think they are really starting to crack down on umpires. They've started with Questec, I'm not sure if I agree with Questec, but mlb's made it clear that they are going to rate umpires performance based on Questec, and believe me they know when umpires make blown calls. The best umpires should be in the big leagues, if they are not performing to par they get sent down just like players.
  5. The fact is that if Wolf is somehow trying to help the Phillies cause sooner or later the mlb is going to find out. He could get fired for repeated blown calls. That is the reason I don't think he's trying to help the phillies.
  6. It was the SOFTBALL LLWS for god sakes, who gives a s*** about that. So all I got to see was when we blew the lead. Oh well.
  7. 2) Damn ESPN2! They went to the alternate game (Marlins-Dodgers) til 10, which was the middle of the ninth. Then they switched over to the LLWS. Priorities people!! A game with much meaning on the Wild Card about to go to extra innings, or LLWS with how many teams left playing? Come on! Yeah I was pretty pissed about this.
  8. I was listening to the game on the radio, and Boog got as excited as I've ever heard him when Mordi hit that one out. Even more so than yesterday.
  9. Where's Mike Mordecai?
  10. the baseball gods are having a lot of fun somewhere ehy.......scary/beautiful/perfect/incredible/unbelievable..........this is why we have stayed marlins fans all these years, this is why we lived and died with this team, cause days like this day, and seasons like this season are just that much sweeter Yeah we've made it through the struggles and now we're reaping the benefits and it feels so good.
  11. Hey Castillo you gonna change your avator to Mordi, now?
  12. That little midget is clutch, he sure does pick good times to hit his home runs.
  13. Man, I'm so happy right now another great win, and I'm watching the Royals beat the s*** out of the yankees.
  14. Where's that article that said our weak bench was our only weakness. I think we've ended that myth.
  15. Mini-Hulk strikes again. WOW.
  16. can you believe this guy? Two homers. Both game winning homers in extra innings.
  17. Castro and Mordecai two unlikely heroes.
  18. MORDECAI!!!!!!!!! OMG HE DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!
  19. You play to win! Best basestealer in majors. Let him run. If he gets to second, a single scores WINNING run. If he gets out, lead off next inning with #2 hitter. RIght move in that situation for that runner.....just happened he got thrown out.. We will still WIN. Have faith. P has one of the quicker moves to the plate and Lo Duca throws out over 30 percent of would be stealers.... Dumb Dumb Dumb. Bump..........youdaman. answer me this. If he had made it would you be saying the same thing? I think not. With Castillo up you're probably not gonna get an extra base hit, but he is a great singles hitter we get pierre at 2nd get a single and win the game.
  20. Alvarez is in for the Dodgers I believe he is the last guy in the dodgers bullpen.
  21. If one of our big hitters was up it would have been stupid but Castillo is a singles hitter.
  22. f*** how stupid can they be sending pierre damn another dumb move! That wasn't a stupid move you gotta get him in scoring position. If we were behind than it would be a stupid move, but if we would have got him to 2nd we would have had a much better chance to get that run in.
  23. Spelling is "deja vu." Two outs in bottom of tenth. thanks :lol
  24. Pitchers spot up 2nd I wonder if Ramon will get the call. Could it be des ja vou? (I have no idea how to spell that). Fox would get the win again too.
