Rich has been brutal today!!
he didnt, that was the point of me calling him out on it. Uh, Brian Giles DID come up through the Pittsburgh system. He was traded for Oliver Perez and Jason Bay, which was a bad trade for the Padres. Thanks for correcting me, lolHe didn't correct you.....Giles was an Indian farmhand, was on their bench in Game 7 of the 97 World Series. That was one stacked team we toppled. I know he didnt correct me, I was being sarcastic

Youre not even worth a response, your iq is obvious considering your screenname, but I will anyway. I posted this when we were down 2 runs, there wasnt much to complain about at that point.. And yeah, Im obviously a piss poor fan If Im knowledgable enough to call him out on such "minor" facts. jacka$$

Rich has been brutal today!!
not sure if you're questioning me or Rich.. Considering Gonzalez was our #1 pick overall, and the trade of him to Texas for Uggie was a pretty big reason we won a ring, thats a pretty big error. And Giles was in the bigs I think 4 years with the Indians (im pretty sure he was with them against us in the 97 series), so to say he came up through the pirates system is also a pretty big error..

Rich has been brutal today!!
first he said That Adrian Gonzalez went from here to the Expos to the Rangers and now he just said that Brian Giles came up through the Pirates system!! weak!!!

POKEY'S ALIVE!
Marlins' Reese surfaces following two-day absence Associated Press Posted March 3 2006, 7:19 PM EST JUPITER, Fla. -- Florida Marlins second baseman Pokey Reese failed to show up for two consecutive days of spring training without explanation, briefly raising concerns regarding his whereabouts before he contacted his agent, the team said Friday. General manager Admin Beinfest said Reese gave no indication that he was taking time off, and for two days the team had no idea where he was. ``We tried to track him down starting yesterday,'' Beinfest said Friday. ``He was playing well. He looked healthy. We were happy with him, and he appeared to be happy.'' Worries were allayed Friday evening by Reese's agent, Mike Nicotera. ``We have been informed through his agent that he is safe,'' said team spokesman Matt Roebuck, who added that the club had been told nothing further. Nicotera didn't return calls seeking comment. Reese missed a workout Thursday. The Marlins had him in the lineup for Friday's game against Baltimore, but he again failed to show. Reese, a two-time Gold Glove winner, spent all of last season on the disabled list with the Seattle Mariners following shoulder surgery. He signed with the Marlins in December. ``I'm not upset with him,'' manager Joe Girardi said before Reese surfaced. ``I just want to hear his voice that he's OK.'' The 32-year-old Reese, who grew up in a depressed neighborhood in Columbia, S.C., has been forced to cope with a succession of family tragedies. His fiancee died in a car crash in 1993. Three years later, the mother of his son, Naquawan, died while delivering a child fathered by another man. Naquawan went to live with his maternal grandmother and great-grandmother. Both women were murdered on Christmas Eve 1997. ``Baseball helps me free my mind from the past,'' Reese said shortly after reporting to spring training with the Marlins last week. He began his major league career in 1997 with Cincinnati and won a World Series ring with Boston in 2004.

Pokey Reese missing
Reese missing from Marlins camp Veteran infielder hasn't contacted the team in two days By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com Veteran infielder Pokey Reese has played 856 career Major League games. (Gerry Broome/AP) JUPITER, Fla. -- Infielder Pokey Reese, in line to potentially win a starting job, was an unexcused absence by the Marlins on Friday, and he hasn't been in contact with the team in two days. General Manager Admin Beinfest says no one within the organization has heard from the two-time Gold Glove winner since Wednesday. The team has contacted Major League Baseball about the whereabouts of the 32-year-old second baseman. "It's unexcused," Beinfest said following the Marlins' 5-4 win over the Orioles on Friday. "He was not at the workout [Wednesday]. We've made efforts to contact him, also through his agent. We haven't found him. We want to make sure that he's OK, and we'll take it from there." The Marlins opened their Grapefruit League schedule on Thursday, also against the Orioles, at Fort Lauderdale Stadium. Even though Reese wasn't set to make that trip, it's typical for players to report to the Roger Dean Stadium complex to work out. Reese didn't show. On Friday, manager Joe Girardi had Reese in the starting lineup. Once again, he was absent, and the team is concerned. Through the years, Reese has had to deal with numerous personal issues involving tragedies within his family. But, according to the team, nothing seemed to be bothering Reese. "I'm very concerned about it," Girardi said. "None of us know what it is like to be Pokey Reese, the issues he's had to deal with on a daily basis. I'm not upset with him. I am just worried. We all have personal things that we have to tend to. I'm just concerned that he's OK. It worries me. I just want to hear his voice that he's OK." In the 16 years Beinfest has been involved in Major League Baseball, he's never had a player disappear without informing the club. Team officials went to the apartment complex Reese is staying at in Palm Beach Gardens. Knocks on the door were unanswered. "It's unusual. I can't remember it ever happening," Beinfest said. "This is my 16th spring. We just want to make sure that he's OK." Beinfest didn't say if the team has contacted local authorities. He noted the Marlins have informed Major League Baseball, which is taking the proper steps in attempting to locate Reese. Reese broke in with the Reds in 1997, and he's spent time with the Pirates and Red Sox, with whom he won a World Series ring in 2004. Last year he was in the Mariners organization, but right shoulder surgery caused him to miss the entire season. He signed as a free agent with the Marlins on Jan. 3. Reese is competing for the second-base job, and he is regarded as a fallback shortstop option should rookies Hanley Ramirez and Robert Andino struggle. Reese has been a bright spot in Spring Training. He was taking on the role of a leader with the young players. "We're not sure where he is at," Girardi said. "We don't know if something personal has come up that he had to tend to. We're waiting for a phone call."

Observations from a front row view
WOW! SIXTY DOLLARS!! you know what, youre right, they should have stopped doing their job, dropped everything, and went outside the stadium and washed your car. Everything you wrote is ignorant, and its great how you sound happy our second baseman, who happens to be very nice, got hurt because he didnt sign for you. JACKASS

Both Games Postponed.....

Both Games Postponed.....
living here in Denver I can say that they could have played today, it never snowe and there was only light, light rain. Considering i spent $200 on 2 seats 2 rows behind the Marlins dugout for all 3 games Im totally dissapointed, but i guess on the bright side Travis Smith didnt have to start! Dont get me wrong, it was freezing today, but they could have played.

Gabe White available
is he better then perisho? over his career much better, Perisho has had one good year. That being said Im not saying cut Perisho and sign White. If we can make it work then I just think hed be very good insurance. Maybe hed be willing to go to Albuquerque knowing how shaky Mota may be as a closer and also knowing Matt is a little out of shape and truly isnt proven except for one year.

Gabe White available
he was just released by the Braves even though he pitched better than Tom Martin in camp. Id sure like to have him in case Perisho doesnt perform. thoughts...
