Its funny when I hear people say stuff like "blind loyalty" and "devotion" when some bench players are out hitting Mikey. I am the first one in line to say that it would be very sad to see Mikey go...but the truth is that when you have a $25 million contract and with the current economic state of the Marlins, we gotta let this guy go. It seems that Mikey cant get back to his old self and we need to make enough money room to get us another solid player in the offseason. If we just say.... "Oh, lets keep Lowell because of loyalty"...then s***.... lets stay at ProPlayer forever and forget about a newer and more profitable stadium because good old Wayne started the franchise." I think Mikey is a great guy and "deserves" to play in his hometown... BUT the fact remains the Mikey is going to still get paid regardless of what team he plays for and the Marlins will get stuck paying his huge contract when that chunk of our LIMITED funds could go to someone else... There are two things I do not like about this trade.... 1) We are not getting Daniel Cabrera....he is a cheap, yopng, and very talented... we need to get a young stud back in return and we are not getting that. 2) We are going to be stuck paying a large portion of Mikey's contract... I mean, if we are giving you Lowell AND Burnett, you better believe that we are not taking up a large part of his contract... 864610[/snapback] Dude... you hit it right on the spot... Look...lets be realistic....yeah... he will most probably sign with another team after the offseason. So it makes perfect sense if we are not in contention to trade him. But right now, the offers we are getting are not what we anticipated. I mean, cmmon... is Jorge Julio and Admin Bigbie going to do anythign for us in the future. I think not. If the deal would have included Daniel Cabrera and them taking most of Mike's contract, then it would make complete sense. We need a cheap, young, talented pitcher in return... other than that, no deal would make sense. For now, none of the offers are actually worth it. So I say keep him. We have a very good chance to make the playoffs if we just win some games. Unless we get something in return that will help us build towards the future, I say dont do the trade..... I mean, really...what the hell is Bigbie gonna do for us?! I rather have Conine or Easiley out there. And Julio....hes OK...nothing special...

We can definitely make a run at the wild card and maybe even take the division... remember guys, we have a whole second half left.... anything is possible... BELIEVE!!!!

Arroyo and Trot Would be SWEEEETTTTTTT..... I like Trot.... Arroyo is OK... he will be decent hole filler... Trot would be ideal because we can then move Migue to 3B and fill the OF spot with Trot...

The trade was no good unless they included Daniel Cabrera and would take most of Mike's contract...
