Well, here we stand for the third year in a row with the playoffs calling our names. In 2003 we had to yell at October for her to let us in, but eventually we caught her attention and the rest is history. October enjoyed the time with us so much that she wanted us back, and called at us. We woke up around this time and charged hard until her evil aunt, Mother Nature, had other ideas. This year we're getting called again, but we're playing hard to get.

 

Let's drop the games and make a run. From now on, here is where nightly updates will be given on our quest to visit October once again. Discussion on the hunt (and only the hunt) is welcome here as well.

There have been plenty of teams in baseball history that floundered and looked out of it, but then ended up coming back and doing big things...hopefully the Fish can pull it off...

I BELIEVE and as much as I would love to win this division at this point I dont care how we get there as long as we have baseball in OCTOBER!!!

With 71 games left in 2003, the Marlins went 44-27 in their last 71 games, including a 9-1 run in late July, and a 1-8 skid in late-August. I think this year's team will need to go 46-25 at least, probably 47-24. Atlanta needs to go 39-30. I'm assuming the Nats wilt in the summer. I see it as a race between us and the Braves. One or the other will do it, by beating up on the other NL East teams. It's certainly doable. We have the team, at least we did when I started this post. If it happens let's remember that August swoon if it reoccurs, and enjoy the ride from here on in. Good luck!

The fact that this thread isn't titled "Magic Number countdown thread" really shows how sucky we are.

Bottom Line - we have to win division matchups, and go at least 500 in other matchups if we want to be in this thing.
