Couple of notes:

- Atlanta/Arizona has a double edge to it: Arizona getting hot will help out teams trying to catch up to the Braves, and a victory by the Braves in the series will probably end Arizona's Wild Card quest.

- The hottest team in the NL right now, the Astros, march into Washington with the Nats struggling and with their big game pitcher on the mound (Clemens) vs Ryan Drese. Here's a damned if you do, damned if you don't: If the Astros win the series, they will come closer to the Braves/Nats but allow us to gain ground on the top team. If the Nats can win 2 of 3 or even sweep, the Stros will get a series hit to their chances but we won't be able to gain much ground.

- The Mets are on fire and could make a move this weekend in the standings if the chips fall their way with Arizona and Houston, and if they can keep the Dodgers off their backs. LA, however, is coming battle tested from their Nats series.

wow...the logic there is amazing....How about this.....We should score more runs then the other team on a daily basis in order to win games.

Maybe I'm way of base, but wouldn't it be better to have this thread locked? Then Juanky, or whoever wants to update it daily, can do so. The "updater" makes one post per day, giving the score of all the teams within the race, then updates the standings.

 

It makes it easier to get a quick update on our current situation, and then as the season continues, it makes it easy to look back and examine the race on a day by day basis. We can refer to this thread and look for trends in the race. I like the idea of this thread but I don't like having to sift through updates of every game with each passing half-inning.

 

Just my thoughts on the matter. Let me know what you guys think.

I was meaning that when we lose, it seems luckily that the teams ahead of us lose also, but they never seem to lose on days when we win, they win also leaving us in an inevitable stalemate.

I personally don't mind the chatter, which is why I don't open it and close it every day. But if Admin think it's in the best interest to have conversation elsewhere, I'll follow this route. The line on the outside of the thread (stating how many back of the playoffs we are) is so people can know now where we stand and then go in here for in depth info on the race.
