it aint just about the 5.5 games back, its also about those other teams.

Overall, good news/bad news tonight.

 

Bad news: Houston swept a double header, so they jumped ahead of us by .5 games. We have to cross 5 teams in the Wild Card.

 

Good news: Atlanta, wild card leader, lost the same day we won. Also, of the 5 teams we have to jump in the Wild Card, three of them are in our division anyways.

Hey guys, I was trying to sleep last night..and at around 2 in the morning I heard this loud bang, but since I was tired as hell, I just mumbled and rolled back over....well it turns out it was an old Chipper Jones Starting Lineup figure from like '98. Anyways...I saw this as a good sign as my Willis, McFarlene figure still stood. I think it is a sign of things to come....JUST WIN!!!

Wow the brewers are in this thing as well. As long as we win and the braves lose that is what will matter. Whats interesting though is they are 11 games over 500 and we are 500 but are only 5.5 games back.

I draw hope from us being 4 back in the loss column, and the fact that the Cubs and Astros have to play a lot of games against the Cardinals. As long as we play well against the division, it's still do-able...

We are 1 HOT STREAK away from taking this S***! LETS GO!!!! Remeber guys we still have that double dip against the rockies coming up in Aug. We for sure need to sweep it, But lets worry about 1 game at a time!!

Thank God someone finally noticed this. We're chasing all four of the other teams in the division not just the Nationals. We're chasing the Braves, Phils, Cubs, Mets, and Astros for the Wild Card. Is it doable? Yes, but it's a lot harder to pass four or five teams than if we were just chasing one. The more teams you chase, the slimmer the odds that you can catch them all. Hopefully with guys getting healthy we can go on a big run.

Because then there is no lasting record of day by day progress of the race

Yeah but if you look at the standings it's not like we're miles behind all of these other teams, we're within a game or two of them, except for the Braves. It's the Braves and a pack of teams 3-5 games behind them, and we're a part of that pack.

That's fine. We're still behind them. It's good to see it the way Juanky has it broken out because it shows there's a lot of work to do. Jim Caple's Off Base column today shows the list of teams who have made the playoffs when trailing the division or wild card leader by 7.5 or less at the All Star break. Interesting list, and based on it we're still alive. The Fish have got to go on a run soon though if they are to stay alive.
