you have still not shown any evidence that your point is correct. It is. I am not wasting the time to look things up and prove it against an admitted no-nothing. It is just not worth it. I am content because I 100% know I am correct and you are not.

You still are missing the point. Not every fight is huge but there are still some very big ones, and boxing is fine. Also, there are still some great fighters still. Do you think every title fight from the 70s was a "HUGE" one with fans as well? :whistle

Anyway, since we're comparing him to Schilling...if he fared exactly the same as far as ER/IP as Schilling did after Schilling's 533.1 inning pitched (which is where Penny is now), he'd still have an ERA around 3.60 - which, given, is not bad. Not great, but not bad. Now, Penny is no Schilling and never will be. Penny also gets injured. Now, Marlins Bandit...I question YOUR true knowledge of the game. Nobody specifically compared him to Schilling. Read carefully, I said not everyone started out knowing how to pitch. Schilling overpowered hitters early in his career. I never once, not once, made a reference to statistics. Only later in Curt's career did he learn specifically how to pitch around and get hitters out without blowing past them. It also helped him stay healthier. But of course how would I expect a needle-brained fan to understand that. Now, markotsay7 I truly question your READING COMPREHENSION.

Ok, how about we caompare him to someone who is young, too. Prior is 7-2 witha 2.88 ERA, Wolf is 7-3, Zito and Mulder have better numbers. Heck, even Nate Cornejo has a better ERA and the same winning percentage...and he's in Detroit. You just compared him to 3 of the best his age. However, Wolf is a career 4.00 ERA guy with a 45-41 record. That is mediocre according to your stats. Zito has a Cy Young, so he is in a class by himself as is Mulder. Prior may be an all-time great when he is done. Why bring up unfair comparisons? Nate Cornejo is a career 4.8ERA and 8-12, worse than mediocre accrding to you. yet, he is only 23yrs old. Your comparisons suck and are weak. No, don't expect a no-no every time out. How about some consistency, though. Or how about this...Let's see if he can actually win more than he loses??? He is still over .500 for his career and is getting better. Give him a break your traitor. Look at some bad luck he has had this year alone: 1) Against the Brewers he went 7IP while allowing only 2ER and did not get a win. 2) St. Louis he went 6.2IP and 2ER and no win. 3) Houston, 6IP, 3ER and a loss 4) SF 7IP, 2ER and no decision 5) LA 6IP, 2ER and a loss 6) Montreal 6IP, 0 Runs and a no-decision The man has a 3.74 ERA through 79IP this year and has had some starts where he was unlucky and did not get a win. Give him a break.....

well considering i acknowledged my lack of knowldege on boxing you are correct in all you say.... Then quit aruging stuff you don't have knowledge of. whats the point? You tell me, obviously you don't have one. I am simply going by what I hear and all.....boxing is not as popular as it once was...i have no concrete facts to back it up.... I have noticed. Don't believe everything you hear either. It has made you look very, well lets just say, uneducated.

Lewis may be great but most is in speculation.... Unless there is a quality rival its really pointless....boxing is only great if there are fights people want to see.... Lewis vs anyone bores people. or perhaps that other guy who just moved up into the heavyweight class but claims it was a one time deal..forget his name though.. Nascar is, but thats because of all of middle america. Soccer is not yet, it has not caught on in America very fast and who knows if it will. Is that you know nothing and are clueless.

Is the Marlins owner to blame or Loria and Samson?
Boy you are hard-headed again when are moving vans heading to Montreal? Who's the owner? what city DC or Portland? This article is 5 months old, do you have some updated info right? your certain this going to happen? right HAHAHAH! Now that is funny. Great argument Fish Fillet. Next time why don't you post something from the 80s.

Penny can't ride on his youth anymore... He's got 90 starts under his belt. This isn't Willis, or even Beckett. He is a 3+ year veteran. Potential doesn't cut it anymore. So you are saying he has not been good this year? Just mediocre? You can say that Penny isn't mediocre until you are blue in the face, but once again..... a career .500 winning percentage and an ERA over 4. Any other great pitchers out there with those kind of numbers? So you want to forget the youth thing but then you want to judge him based on his career stats, even though he is so young. That is retarded and ridiculous. Of course his career stats will be "mediocre" for someone who is 35 years old, but not someone his age. He has done fine for his age and has done well this year. Some pitchers take a while to figure things out. Randy Johnson, Schilling, Kevin Brown to name a few. They adjusted when they were young and became dominant. You are right, sometimes he shows flashes of brilliance and other times he stinks up the joint.... Which is exactly what I would call... Mediocre. Sorry he doesn't throw a no-hitter every time out. I appologize for him on that account.

did someone actually question me as a fan? sure thing I questioned your true knowledge for the game. Not your "statistical" knowledge, but rather your "true" knowledge. :whistle

Tell me how many people are 'excited' by boxing these days? There are a lot of people excited about boxing still. Maybe not as many as back in the 70s but boxing is a sport that is known for going through dry periods where great fighters get older than a few years later new ones come out. That is what is happening now. The heavyweight division is supposed to be the marquee division and it sucks. Period. It does not "suck" now. There are still many fighters out there who can put on a great performance. You are also witnessing one of the greatest fighter from any era, one of the greatest fighters perhaps of all time in Lennox Lewis, but of course you do not realize that and take him for granted. My negative ways are showing how little knowledge I have???? Correct. What exactly are you talking about? I am simply giving reality. What are you doing? Nope, no you aren't. You always are proven wrong in the end, in everything.

Nothing is ever good enough? No, but how about a winning season? How about consistancy? Is that too much too ask? I agree we should be better than we are now, but if we won 100 games, some of you would demand that we win 101 instead of 100. Listen, you eternal apologists can put as much lipstick as you'd like on this pig, but it isn't going to sell. In alot of cases the Marlins should be criticized for poor performance. No, not always, but there are alot of gaping holes on this team. I'm not appologizing for anything. I agree we should be better than we are, but we do not have a lot of gaping holes on this team, and that is a huge reason why we should be better. Like I said about Penny...He's not bad enough to pile on and slam him every chance we get, but then again he's not exactly throwing up awesome numbers either..... Mediocre! He is not mediocre. He had a bad year last year, but the year before his ERA was in the 3s, as it is again this year. And when you are around 25yrs old and to have that, you are better than mediocre. I don't think that's too harsh... I think most people, after looking at his career numbers, would say that a .500 inning percentage and an ERA over 4 is, well, pretty damn mediocre. Maybe when his career is all said and done, but not when you are this young.

The Spurs are rebuilding since they announced that last year...... Coming from the mouth of Peter Holt, Spurs Chairman.... 2002 and 2003 will be rebuilding years leading up to the summer of 2003 when we have all that cap space.... PS...the spurs are a small market team...but they have the third best winning percentage in NBA history....I am spoiled....and the nba didnt always have a salary cap. I don't care what he said. You will have a lot of cap space because, for one, Robinson is retiring. Any team with David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and a player who many predicted to win the ROY in Ginobli is not rebulding. Just because you were dumb enough to believe Holt's statements doesn't mean I am. Get a clue. Also, as I said, all it takes is one great player in the NBA to make a team a winner. Having David Robinson for his career then getting lucky and drafting Duncan doesn't hurt, now does it?

Yeah you know, how silly of me to expect something showing intelligence from you. I destroy you in intelligence. I don't care how smart you think you are, your simple mind can not do anything except come up with negative retorts. You are nothing.

what a disappointment. I was expecting something more than that from you. You are slipping. Sorry, can't hit a HR every time. But of course you expected more.

Dont try to make a fool of yourself, you will succeed very easily. Well if I succeed, then that means I learned from the best, responding to you. I am not content with mediocrity, I am sorry if that makes you happy or gives you a woody. If I dont see a winning season or improvement in my team I am not happy. I am tired of the same crap for the past 3 years. There has been no improvement with this team, enough is enough. Who is content with mediocrity? Not me! But certain things make me happy, and nothing makes you happy. All I see is b*tch after b*tch after b*tch. Like I said a few months ago, I am probably spoiled by the Spurs, who can make it to the NBA Finals in a rebuilding year, while this team cannot even reach .500 in a year when we were 'promised' this team would contend for the playoffs. Well sorry, we are not the Spurs and we are not in the NBA where one man can dominate day in and day out so easily and we do not put 5 players out at one time. We do not have a salary cap and we do have to compete against teams with a payroll $100 million higher. And since when were the Spurs "rebuilding" this year?

I came out in week 1 and said that I was wrong about Juan Pierre and that he can be a player for this team. That right there implies that you were NEGATIVE, like usual from the start and did not even give Pierre a chance before you jumped on him. I have given praise to Alex Gonzalez. Yeah, and you were always a big supporter of him from the start! You are a fool who simply is looking at every word I type to make an arguement out of...but thats cool, bring it. Correction, you are the fool and it is easy to make an argument of your words, since you always go against the grain and can never go withm the flow or agree on anything positive. By the way, it has been brought.

Hey Das, you are really being unreasonable.... First off, we've already established that you shouldn't be critical of any Marlins player, for any reason other that the commision of a felony. Poor performance shouldn't be criticized, you might make someone feel bad. Remember, always be positive about this team, regardless of reality. And to take it further, I sure hope you aren't exposed to any children, since you being critical will lead them to be hate mongering serial killers who have no concept of sportsmanship. Shame on you. Tisk, tisk. No...you are way off. You both don't understand anything obviously. Nothing is ever good enough. If someone has a good game then it is, "they won't do it next time," or "that was luck" etc... But if they have a bad game it is a "see thats the real them," or "they have always sucked", etc.... Just keep quiet, your stupidity is shining through.

horse racing is allright... at least its not boxing. Oh man, don't get me started now! At least it's not boxing....please!!! Boxing is a great sport and just because you may think the heavyweight divison does not feature a prime Ali, Frazier or Liston that it's not a good sport, you are insane. Ward-Gatti III this past saturday was one of the greatest fights in the ENTIRE HISTORY of boxing. There are several great fighters. There are several great fights too. De La Hoya-Mosley is coming up soon. And to tell you the truth, Lennox Lewis would have had his way against Joe Frazier or Liston. Your negative ways have shown how little knowledge you truly have.

What point are you trying to prove MarlinsBandit??? That the points I make do not fit into your nice little world? My nice little world? Ha! No, there are just some people in this world -cough, cough- who are never happy about anything. Baseball, truly is in shambles and the reason for it being in this state, believe it or not, is not Jeffrey Loria. You make outrageous claims and then try to point them on me in my nice little world? Whats next....you invented the letter T or the semicolon?

Let me tell you, Daw31, I agree with you completely. Alot of people on this board who call themselves die hards, are really confused people. I did not want to mention names, but people like Ramp, Das, and many more.... They expect every game to be each players best then when they have a bad game, they suck and need to be traded, etc... Some fans you guys are. Do you even truly know about baseball? You can recite the statisatics well, and Ramp you make up nicnkames for players more than anyone else, but do you all truly know the game? I have a hard time believing you guys do. Nice fans you are.

Is the Marlins owner to blame or Loria and Samson?
I just want to point out for Das that you made a point last time to mention Mark Cuban and his spending for success. Well ESPN mentioned last night that with all his spending, and he is in the salary cap NBA, the Mavs will still lose 35-40 million this year. You think Loria can afford that. Nice comparison you made genius.
