  1. shut down Roberts-Mora-Tejada...Herges is in the pen I say. Couldn't get the update on Herges I requested. But, thanks for the overview. Do know he is a previously qualified veteran who will add a lot to the pen and the clubhouse.
  2. I want Herges in our pen. Anxious to know how he does today. Updates appreciated!
  3. Cudos to San Antonio for their excellent effort. But, Hialeah is looking good. In many ways a "historic project" resurecting a dismal area with real potential. Maybe the Legislature will see the economic benefits. And finally support South Florida baseball.
  4. Good article. Thanks for posting. Said a while back that I wish Andino would spend three weeks with Perry Hill working at 2B. He won't beat out Han Ram at short, but might challenge Uggla at 2B. In any event, as the #1 back-up mid-infielder he will get better experience (and confidence building) in the Big Show than he would being demoted back to the minors. I don't want to lose Herges. Just a few years ago he was a top closer. And he's not old. He was a bargain and will add much to the pen and the clubhouse. I like Abercrombie in Center but I'd like to keep Eric Reed for late-inning defense (and pinch-runner.) Jeez... this is exciting.
  5. Still digesting what I saw in the sweltering heat of Roger Dean Stadium today. Vargas looked great for 3 innings then began losing that early game masterful control But, he stayed composed and hung-in nicely. He's in my rotation! Who the hell is Carlos Martinez? He looked like a ready-to-go MLB pitcher. Some sad relief appearances. Comes with the territory at this time of the year. Jacobs looked strong at 1B. So did Stokes. Cab's looked like he never missed a beat. HanRam is overwhelming Andino's excellence. Abercrombie is like the mystery man... that one guy in ST who shows the promise of magic. And we pray for him! Must finish digesting a long, hot, but exciting day.
  6. He's managing a high-school team. Wow. Bummer. But thank you for the response.
  7. Thought Mike Mordecai was up for at least a Spring Training visit. Then never heard. See he is no longer the Jammers Manager. Anyone know where he is? Surely, he's in baseball somewhere! Thanks.
  8. Will be a fun hot day at Roger Dean. My 85 year old Marlins Fan Mother and I will be in Section 106, Row 7, Seats 9 & 10. Love to say a quick hello with other Forum members. Have expressed a "diminishing confidence" in Moehler and Vargas. I'll root like hell for Vargas tomorow. He has what it takes. Want to see it now! We need him. It's still early in ST but my exuberance becomes unsatiated. I need patience!
  9. Amezaga coming on strong after the World Classic detour. Wes Helms still my Opening Day 1B.
  10. Will be great to see Olsen step up now. He can do it. Hope also we'll see Matt Herges rise. Right now, methinks he is the sleeper in the bull-pen. Will be a fun game and anxious for PBP updates!
  11. Between innings at a ST game, I stared out to see who was warming up the Pitcher. It was Girardi. And Girardi out-sprints his players in drills. Win or Lose, he is the right Manager for us. And a great attitude and moxy that will cultivate the best from our young Marlins. Echo of "Run, Joe, Run!"
  12. Realistically, the issue is the starting rotation. My confidence in Moehler and Vargas are diminishing. Maybe today I will get envigorated. Not sure how that is happening, considering Jason Vargas has a 1.64era in 11 innings and Big Moe has a 0.00era in 8 innings... hopefully a few more starts will give you more confidence in them Try Big Moe now with a 6.35 ERA. I'm not giving up on him but I reaffirm my "confidence is diminishing."
  13. HollyBerry, Wow this is a fun ST! HanRam has SS. Andino's best asset is that he is 2 (?) years younger. Those of us ignorant wonder why he isn't being worked at 2B, even if it means sending him to AAA. (Persoanlly, I would give him to Perry Hill for 3 weeks at 2B.) Realistically, the issue is the starting rotation. My confidence in Moehler and Vargas are diminishing. Maybe today I will get envigorated. For sure, we have the right Manager. And the best HollyBerry.
  14. Sorry for the misspelling. I will be more careful.
  15. Been to a few ST games (next on Tuesday vs. Dodgers.) Most impressed by Wes Helms and Matt Cerpicky. Helms is very smoothe, wherever he plays. Guess I have over-anticipated Mike Jacobs. But, it's early. If this was Opening Day I would have Helms at first. Cerpicky is a frustrating decision. Looks good defensively but not much offensively. But, watch him at the plate. He is intimidating as hell. This lefty twirls his bat in his right hand menancingly as the pitcher settles. God, he looks like a ball-player! Looking forward to seeing Anibal Sanchez. Not surprised to see Matt Herges is doing well and being respected. He was (for at least one season) an excellent closer. And good to see MaverickBall back on line.
