I noticed in the Albuquerque Journal this past Friday (box scores) that the Topes outdrew the Marlins in Thursday night's (6/15) games: 7,859 vs 7,162 ! :whistle yep, it appears to be a fairly frequent thing (it even made "Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio" in April when it happened). The Marlins fans better start supporting their team or they deserve to lose the club (the Marlins are playing really good ball lately so there is no excuse for the Isotopes to be outdrawing the Marlins on some nights). I hope the Marlins move to San Antonio - it's closer to watch them once in a while, and the Isotopes will probably see more rehab assignment stints rather than the usual of players going to Jupiter for their rehab assignments.

I got a question. If a player is slumping, according to some people the manager should not bench him, instead he should let the player figure out his own problem. According to another group, when a player is on fire, you shouldn't bench him so he can continue his hot streak. So my question is simple: what kind of bizare condition must be met so benching your starting players be appropiate? Reed is Master, tell me if a few of these things I heard on Reed are correct. Eric Reed is so good , he can play all three outfield positions at once ? MLB is considering renaming the MVP award "just not as good as Eric Reed" ? Eric Reed didn't learn how to ride a bike by using training wheels. He learned on a motorcycle ? Eric Reed is so fast that he arrives at home plate before completing his swing. Obviously, all of his hits are homeruns, whether the human eye can catch them or not ? E-mail only works because Eric Reed can throw your letters to other computer ? I don't know if this true or not...just some stuff cpfishfan told me. Reed climbed the terrace in center and made an over-the-shoulder catch up against the wall to end the inning and the threat. ALL TRUE :thumbup

Many Marlin fans have already written off Eric Reed but it's interesting to note that this guy has ALWAYS been around .300 as a hitter in the minors. With one on and two out, Joe McEwing crushed an Ungs offering deep to centerfield. They are going to keep Olsen in there as long as possible. Hopefully that means we will see Yusmeiro in the 7th. Olsen's pitch count is now 67 after three innings, though, so we will probably see him in the 6th. yea a lil late

Every pitcher in our organization is better than Mitre. The fact that he's in the starting rotation(or on the team at all) is a joke You really need to give it a rest. Mexican Standoff : I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations. I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place. But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don't care how many lala land left heads come out of the woodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons. I don't need sensitivity lessons; in fact I don't have anything against Mexicans! I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don't believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstr ations is that it's tantamount to saying, "I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there's nothing you can do about it." It's an "in your face" action and speaking just for me I don't like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn't be happening. We don't know who they are, where they are or what they're up to and the way the Congress is going we're not going to. Does this make sense? Labor force you say? We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well? If these people were from Haiti or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them? I think not. All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life. They don't show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did. They don't tell you about the living conditions of the Mexican illegals some fat cat hired to pick his crop. I want to make two predictions. No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their toes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre. No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue. I don't know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up and say, "I don't care who I make mad and I don't care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I'm going to lead the fight to get it straightened out." What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message. Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!) "I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan." 1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again. 2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence. 3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave.We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them. 4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers. 5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby. 6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while. 7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else(like Canada ! or Oklahoma!). They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.) 8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything. 9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. 10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way , no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. It's still probably not enough ABs to demote Jacobs, unless they see something specifically in his swing that he'd be better served working out in AAA. We definitely arn't competing, so Jacobs can struggle up here for awhile longer before Stokes gets his shot....it very well may come soon though. After the first month of the season, I think Jacobs = Jeromy Burnitz. I had higher hopes for him, but, unless he starts to have better swings, that's about all he'll ever become (which at this point, I'd settle for over his current production). jeremy burnitz wasn't a bad baseball player at all. Jacobs is having some serious issues with his swing right now. how many at bats do you think is enough ??
