I'd upvote you for that, but I can't.

Trial by combat sounds more fair.

    I hope I'm entitled to a trial
  4. I didn't stumble into the Tampa Bay Rays forum by accident again did I?
  5. Definitely a fair question. Most teams who win the World Series keep mostly the same team. The Indians also have three outfielders who are capable hitters and fielders. Chisenhall, Guyer, and Naquin. Coco Crisp and Rajai Davis should not be major league starters for a good team. The Indians actually are able to let Crisp and Davis leave and save $18 million on the payroll. A closer look has me seeing that it isn't as perfect of a fit as I had assumed. The Indians pitching depth isn't as strong as I thought and they have outfielders. However, the entire Indians outfield (Crisp/Davis/Chisenhall/Guyer/Naquin) combined to produce around a 5 WAR season for the Indians. While only a 2.5 WAR player this season, at his peak Ozuna was worth 4.5 wins on his own (2014). A repeat 2016 season for Ozuna is worth half of the Indians current outfield, and a peak Ozuna is basically worth their entire offense. I think on the basis of value it isn't hard to see Ozuna as improving in the AL and becoming a star with the Indians.
  6. I'd definitely look towards talking with the Indians to get Bauer. The Indians have started Coco Crisp, Brandon Guyer, and Rajai Davis in the outfielder, all of whom can't even put up .700 OPS'. After a World Series appearance, the Indians will have the resources and ability to replace a guy like Bauer in the rotation rather easily with either a free agent signing or Mike Cleavenger from the minor leagues. The only problem would be that the outfield market is pretty heavy this offseason and is going to hurt Ozuna's value given teams can just go out and sign an outfielder rather than trade for one. Still, I think Cleveland is the ultimate fit when looking into an Ozuna trade.
  7. Possibly a Marco Estrada (good chance Blue Jays lose Bautista to free agency and look to replace). Indians were looking to acquire Ozuna last offseason so maybe they're willing to give up Trevor Bauer this time (don't see them parting with Salazar or Carrasco). The Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds are the other teams I've seen that wanted Ozuna last offseason (and still have a need for an outfielder). Martin Perez from the Rangers and Dan Straily from the Reds would be the most likely targets. None of the guys mentioned are elite right now, but all young with high end upside and relative major league production already. That's the value Ozuna would bring today.
  8. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article111465007.html This is all things that most here should've known already. I am surprised by Esche being listed as a realistic rotation option and mildly surprised how high the Marlins have gotten on Castillo.
  9. There's a witness who was on the phone with Jose while he was on the boat that suggests he wasn't driving (he was discussing directions with one of the other guys there).
  10. Cespedes is going to get $100-120 million depending on whether it's a 4 or 5 year deal. Brandon Moss, Josh Reddick, and Dexter Fowler are more reasonable options under the assumption that the team trades Ozuna to acquire pitching.
  11. Dude, google some history on the city of Miami. It used to be the cocaine capital of the U.S
  12. All I know is that the families of the other victims are going to make a good chunk of change in the upcoming lawsuit.
  13. Somebody from Miami was taking cocaine? Next you're going to tell me that Colorado Rockies players like weed.
  14. His son was in our system, Chad Wallach. We traded him with Disco to get Mat Latos from the Reds. Wallach most recently had a .773 OPS and could likely see AAA to start 2017 and could reach the majors in 2018 (although he isn't ranked among the Reds top 30 prospects).
  15. Scruggs isn't even in the organization anymore.
  16. I wish we had a real worst postseason moment. It would mean we'd have enough postseason appearances to suffer failure and heartbreak. It's like being proud that you didn't fail out of college like those other dumb kids when you weren't even accepted into that school in the first place. You don't brag about that.
  17. College students are stupid. News at 11.

    2016 Playoffs

I had a whole post written but it was deleted. I'll write the cliffnotes now When looking at how the Cubs got from their 2016 roster to now, it's incredible. Only a single player in the majors was not acquired by Epstein, and that was the catcher Willson Contreras who was a 2009 signing. They've done it by turning bad assets and getting undervalued players from other teams (Arrieta, Hammel, Fowler, Hendricks). Even the big money signings they've made (Heyward, Lester, Zobrist) are guys who could be replaced at this moment by other players and there wouldn't be a noticeable drop off. The Cubs have hit incredibly in the first round under Epstein (Bryant, Schwarber, Almora, Baez). Even in a trade where they gave up a good asset in Samardzija, they were able to somehow get back one of the other great assets they gave up in Hammel . I'm not even talking about the 'pen that has been boosted by acquiring an elite guy in Chapman and another great guy in Montgomery. All this and the Cubs still have the #21, 23, and 97 prospects in baseball. I marvel at the job Epstein has done and he's truly the model of modern moneyball. He's built around the draft while also taking both incredible chances and finding undervalued players that are considered trash by other teams. There hasn't been a better mind in baseball that I've ever seen. When people talk rebuild, this is what they have in mind. Almost nobody is going to be able to build as perfect as this (which includes shrewd minds in the front office and an ownership team that gives them the room to spend and take chances), but even on a smaller scale the platform has been set forth for how to succeed in baseball in today's era.

    2016 Playoffs

And that's fair to think 162 games shouldn't be decided by 1. In terms of structure it could be considered unfair. But I also see it as a team getting a shot they otherwise wouldn't have had in the previous format, and a top wild card team should be able to have a top pitcher available to win a single game. When I look at in from a team building standpoint, the better team should have a roster constructed to win that game, and thus it isn't unfair if a team goes in prepared.

    2016 Playoffs

I love 1 game Wild Card games in all sports (I think basketball should introduce the idea). There's nothing more exciting than seeing teams have everything at stake in a single night.

    2016 Playoffs

Oh and Theo Epstein is already a Hall of Famer (and he was after his Red Sox run anyway). I'm pretty sure there's textbooks being written in front offices modeled off of his practices running a baseball team. I hope he sees the Marlins front office as equally cursed and takes over.

    2016 Playoffs

I know we're all in Cubs talk right now but I love Michael's "Now watch Miller dominate in Boston. Just our luck". Somebody was close to being called a time traveler.
  24. I've kept my calm but you are following me outside the damn politics thread. Keep your shit contained. You and your dumbass poster friends are like a virus that spreads and destroys everything that was once tolerable.
