  1. Where is Giles going to play? Right bench? LF: Bay RF: Drew DH: Ortiz ...even 1B...Youkilis. CF? Can Giles even play there, anymore? And if so...will the Red Sox bench Ellsbury? Umm... yeah.. Bench... I'm pretty sure that's what it says lol
  2. I was gonna go to Wrestlemania 24, but right before i booked the hotel and plane ticket, my friend flaked out and not wanted to go cross country for a week all by myself, i wound up just selling my ticket (for a decent profit) and not going...i'm definitely going to houston next year though Rab has family in Houston so we decided to go (or are in the process of trying to see if we can go, it all depends if the Fish open the season at home or on the road).. Room and Board is free.. ha! All we need to do is pay for the plane tickets and the tickets to the show lol
  3. He does have good numbers with the Padres this season. I don't know why they put him on waivers... it's not like they are making a real push for contention. After all, they are 44-71 after today's lose to the Mets. I never realized they had such an awful record... then again, I hardly look at standings outside of the NL east On yeah.. they are doing horrible, but then again the entire NL West is a joke.
  4. So Saturday we go against some guy named Brian Stokes who used to be a Tampa Bay DEVIL Ray last year. He's only faced 5 of our batters but not enough to say that we "own" him. lol Any one else heard of this guy?
  5. CHICAGO -- Maybe Jason Bay wasn't the last of Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein's acquisitions to bolster the club for the stretch run. In a development that was first reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune and then confirmed by several other media outlets, the Red Sox claimed veteran outfielder Brian Giles off of waivers from the Padres. According to the Boston Globe, the claim was put in on Wednesday. The Red Sox have exclusive negotiating rights with the Padres for 48 hours, meaning the situation should be resolved by Friday. If a trade can't be worked out, the 37-year-old Giles would stay with the Padres. Giles confirmed the report to media members at Shea Stadium following San Diego's 5-3 loss to the Mets on Thursday afternoon, saying he had spoken by phone with Padres general manager Kevin Towers, and added that he might know more by the time the Padres landed in Colorado late Thursday night. "They are a good team," Giles, a left-handed hitter, said of the Red Sox. Joe Bick, who represents Giles, declined to comment on the matter. Teams are not allowed to comment publicly on waiver claims, otherwise they face a severe fine from Major League Baseball. Though Giles wouldn't start for a Boston team that has Bay in left, Jacoby Ellsbury in center, J.D. Drew in right and David Ortiz at designated hitter, he would give the team an established bat off the bench, not to mention injury protection. Ortiz came off the disabled list on July 25 after missing seven weeks with a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist. Though the left-handed slugger felt some "clicking" in the wrist in his last at-bat on Monday, he was fine in the ensuing two games against the Royals. Adding another wrinkle to the situation is that the Red Sox are one of eight teams Giles can veto a trade to. "It just comes down to comfort, you know?" Giles said. "This thing could go in a million different directions. ... Right now, it's very general." Conceivably, the Red Sox could have simply put in the waiver claim to block their fellow postseason contenders -- the Angels and Rays -- from getting Giles. But the Boston Herald, citing a baseball source, reported that the Red Sox have legitimate interest in Giles and that was their only motive for making the claim. The Padres hold a club option of $9 million on Giles for 2009, which comes with a $3 million buyout. Giles said that one factor he would weigh as it pertains to a trade to the Red Sox is how he would fit into the club's plans for 2009. That could be a sticking point, as Bay, Ellsbury and Drew are all under contract for 2009, as is backup center fielder Coco Crisp. Giles is batting .295 with six home runs and 37 RBIs this season. Currently in his sixth season with the Padres, he has become comfortable in San Diego. "It's a business -- main thing," Giles said. "Like I said, it's so general right now, there is nothing to report other than I have been claimed, and that's it." Giles, a two-time All-Star, has played in 1,742 games, hitting .293 with 279 homers and 1,029 RBIs. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb He does have good numbers with the Padres this season. 6. I keep looking to see when WWE is coming to South Florida but nothing yet. We (Rab and I) managed to go to Survivor Series and Raw (Jericho's return) last year. I love going to the shows rather then watching on TV. It's awesome with the crowd and stuff.
  7. I missed the F***IN GAME :banghead . How the hell did I not realize that the game was a day game? Well I'm glad to see the Fish won and Volstad pitched well. I too missed the game.... I woke up around 3:30 and thought to myself... I'll shower and head on over to Rab's house and watch the game there but to my surprise, the game was already over. Oh, well. Awesome win for the Fish.
  8. I don' know... I mean... I can only go to games Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays.... So.. if everyone can find one day where we can all make it.. then so be it.
  9. SEATTLE -- Just because the Trade Deadline has passed doesn't mean the Rays won't stay active. On Thursday, they picked up reliever Chad Bradford in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles. The veteran right-hander was assigned to the Rays via a waiver claim for a player to be named later. "We are excited to add Chad to our bullpen," general manager Andrew Friedman said via a text message. "He gives us a very different look from what we currently have. He's an extreme groundball pitcher that should enjoy a lot of success pitching in front of our infield defense." Bradford is expected to join the team in Seattle on Friday, at which time the Rays will have to make a corresponding roster move. Bradford, 33, was 3-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 47 relief appearances for the Orioles this season. He has appeared in 68 or more games in five of the past six seasons, and he finished third among American League relievers with 78 appearances for the Orioles in 2007. He will likely be used in situations when a double play is needed in addition to being used in a setup capacity, joining the likes of Dan Wheeler, J.P. Howell, and Grant Balfour, who currently set up closer Troy Percival. Bradford signed a three-year contract with the Orioles as a free agent on Nov. 30, 2006. He currently makes $3.5 million and will make the same in 2009, including various incentives. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb

  13. Fish17 Ernesto305 SilverBullet1929 Mike Dgreco marlin2266 Benched AdrianneLove Ashley That's basically all the names I have gathered from people who said they'd be "down" for it. lol If I missed anyone, just update the list. We don't necessarily need to tailgate with food.. what we can do is just have a few drinks (if anyone wants to bring beer, then go ahead, personally, I don't drink) and maybe some of the boys can play catch or whatever. We can exchange numbers and find a nice spot to park and sit and just meet people. Maybe slap a few across the head for any dumb post they have said, who knows and then we'll part ways... Tell me what you think and we can get it done. (Did I just make myself the group coordinator for this? lol)
  14. Going for a Cubs game? Are'nt ticket prices like tripled for that series? Not really.. Tickets are standard for Premier games.
  15. ARLINGTON -- Though their worst fears have not been realized, the Yankees must proceed under imperfect conditions. The team officially placed Joba Chamberlain on the disabled list Wednesday with right rotator cuff tendinitis, assuring that he will miss a significant chunk of the season. General manager Brian Cashman released an update early Wednesday evening, revealing Chamberlain's diagnosis to club officials in Texas. Chamberlain will spend approximately the next week resting in New York, before commencing a throwing program shortly thereafter. He will not rejoin the team in either Anaheim or Minneapolis. The Yankees recalled reliever Chris Britton to fill Chamberlain's roster spot and announced plans to recall Ian Kennedy for a start on Friday. "You have to move on," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "That's the only thing you can do in this case." Chamberlain left Monday's start against the Rangers after 4 2/3 innings with stiffness in his right shoulder, complaining of a "grabbing" sensation in his deltoid muscle. The Yankees flew him to New York early Tuesday morning for an MRI with team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon, and then to Florida on Wednesday for a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews. The diagnosis was right rotator cuff tendinitis, the same injury that sidelined catcher Jorge Posada for the entire month of May. Posada eventually returned but never regained full strength in his throwing shoulder, undergoing season-ending surgery on a right shoulder strain last week. The Yankees can only hope that Chamberlain won't suffer a similar fate. "To be quite honest with you, you can't sit here and hang your head about it," shortstop Derek Jeter said. "Hopefully, it's not something that goes for an extended period of time." Chamberlain, 23, was 4-3 with a 2.63 ERA, and 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA since becoming a starter in early June. He joins fellow Yankee starters Chien-Ming Wang and Phil Hughes on the disabled list. Kennedy also spent part of this season on the disabled list but recovered and has been pitching for Triple-A Scranton since early June. There, he has posted a 3-0 record and 1.33 ERA over his past four starts, giving the Yankees reason to believe he might be an able sub for Chamberlain. Kennedy posted a 1.89 ERA over three starts last September, providing further hope that he might excel on Friday. "Obviously, he wouldn't make that start if Joba wouldn't have gone down," Girardi said. "But we're expecting him to come up and pitch the way he did in September." Though Dan Giese was originally slated to start on Friday, the Yankees pushed him back to Saturday so that they could use him in relief at some point this week. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb
  16. Why is Batista vs Cena at summerslam? That should be at wrestlemania. With Punk as champ and HHH vs. Khali, they probably thought those matches wouldn't draw, so they had to put some marquee ones on the show to help up the buyrate. I guess, but wouldnt they have wanted to save that match for wrestlemania 25? I wonder what the main even will be for that? Don't give up so quickly on that match... Let say that Punk does lose his title against Cena/Batista between now and WM25, then you were get a Cena/Batista match for the title at WM25.
  17. If anyone is really interested in doing this. We should make a list of everyone wanting to do this and what each person will bring if we do tailgate. I'll bring cups and plates! lol
