LoMo traded to Seattle
He has closer stuff and was a top rated Baseball america RP. He is highly regarded in the Mariners circle as the closer and waiting. I think a switch to the NL and role will help him out a ton. I love the move and this also opens up some money to go after a 3B i believe. I never was a Morrison fan and I think this team is going to be fun to watch this seaosn. They are 12-14 wins better than last season. Ok I might be a little over-the-top but not having Lomo, Palonco, Pierre, Sanchez types in the lineup with some young guys that can play is refreshing.

Marlins to sign Furcal
No bentancourt. Get playoff guys like salty and furcal. I like Chavez and youkilis. Playoff guys? Anyway, why is everyone so excited about this one? Furcal hasn't been good since like three years ago. I'm kinda with you but not a bad gamble. It is like a small stepup from Polanco part 2

Marlins to sign Furcal
Yeah with this signning I don't think the Marlins sign a 3b and look to fill that slot internally with Dietrich. They are not going to spend big at that position with Moran around the corner and if they do anyting it might be a 1 year deal type FA(Bentancourt/Chavez ect). Remember the Marlins are not going to get close to that 50 mi cap. 45 tops and they are not far off considering what they have to pay in arbritration.

Marlins trade/FA talk
I understand the Navarro thing... he's a gamble offensively but considering the deep hole that is Jeff Mathis followed by essentially another black hole Navarro is actually an upgrade. His arms and legs would literally have to fall off his body for him to be worse than Mathis offensively. I'd take the gamble. Hughes I'm not so sure of. Part of me says why bother? But then looking back at Kevin Slowey, Javier Vazquez, and a couple others in this same vein, I say why not? I'm the opposite as I'm not thrilled about Navarro. Hughes has shown flashes with the yankee's and is a fly ball pitcher which didn't suit his style well in Yankee's staduim. However in spacious Miami he could be a nice nabe to fill end the back end of the rotatoin.

Escobar Traded to Rays
new idea, let's platoon at every position. bring everyone up, and platoon everyone but Stanton. Like the A's of 2012 yeah, just like the 2012 A's. didn't they make the playoffs? Oh they did. Marlins would have to have everything go right for them. Stanton would have to be happy and healthy all year, Lomo would have to have a breakout year and live up to his potential(while staying healthy. Top of the order would have to be electric and get on base on a consistant clip. Young staff will have to develop under young catcher. Catcher would have to call great games all season long. A's had enough power with speed and a pitching staff that all fell into place. Now defense is another obstacle that has it's own questions that worry me about the 2013 marlins.

I hate the way the marlins spin things. Look I didn't want Escobar here as a Marlins fan and glad Marlins go something for him. However if you look at the Toronto trade and the Spin Loria/Beinfest tried to sell us on, this looks like another mistake on the marlins. They tried to say he was the 3b and now he is not because he wasn't compfortable. How bout Beinfest/Sampson do their homework and get things right in a trade.

Winter Meetings Rumors
Jim Bowden epsn.com just wrote up a column that listed 5 predictions for baseball winter meetings. Marlins came in at #3. I have zero faith in this but who else is left to sign that would need a no trade clause. Bourn makes zero sense and I doubt any of the big guys would come here even if a no trade clause was in place. 3. The Marlins are under scrutiny from the commissioner’s office and the players' association to spend rather than pocketing what look to be significant revenue-sharing gains the next few years. The Marlins need to step up and surprise baseball by adding a significant free agent and will have no choice this time but to change their policy and give a full no-trade clause so players they sign won’t have to worry about being dealt in a year.

Marlins Seek Power?
Who are they going to get? Mark Reynolds type power that hits .200? Marlins Seek Power; Stanton Staying Put By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 27, 2012 at 3:27pm CST] The Marlins are not entertaining trade offers for Giancarlo Stanton, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. In fact, Marlins president of baseball operations Admin Beinfest told Heyman he’d love to find a powerful bat to pair with Stanton in Miami’s lineup. "We want someone to hit behind him, someone to offer more power," Beinfest told Heyman. "Giancarlo represents the power on our team." Adding a power hitter appears to be the Marlins’ top priority. Stanton, the 23-year-old slugger who has surpassed the 30-homer mark in both of the past two seasons, won’t be traded. People with Marlins connections and rival executives agree he’ll return to Miami in 2013. But aside from Stanton, who’s still pre-arbitration eligible, there are lots of areas of need for the Marlins. "It's not going to be easy," Beinfest acknowledged. "We're not going to put any expectations on it ... the reality is, we haven't played good for a couple years." Yoenis Cespedes to Athletics
Source: Miami Marlins considered favorites to land Cuban CF Yoenis Cespedes by: Juan C. Rodriguez November 7th, 2011 | 10:19 AM The Marlins have identified their center fielder of the future. Now all they have to do is sign him when he’s declared a free agent. Yoenis Cespedes, a 26-year-old Cuban who defected last summer, should get the go-ahead to begin negotiating with major league teams later this month. According to an American League source who attended his showcase Friday in the Dominican Republic, the buzz is the Marlins have the inside track. Yahoo’s Jeff Passan and Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus both profiled Cespedes, who could command a deal in excess of $30 million, along the lines of what Cuban fireballer Aroldis Chapman secured from the Reds. The Marlins made an unsuccessful run at Chapman when he was declared a free agent. Cespedes, the source said, may be the best player ever to come out of Cuba. Passan reported the Yankees are “particularly hot for the right-handed hitting, five-tool talent. The 6-0, 215-pound Cespedes played for Cuba in the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Since then, major league teams have been salivating at the idea of signing him. Goldstein’s piece details a see-it-to-believe-it, 20-minute video Dominican-based advisor Edgar Mercedes put together. It shows him doing everything from blasting home runs to sprinting on a track to showing off a 45-inch vertical leap to leg pressing more than 1,300 pounds. Many a Cuban defector has been overhyped, but this guy looks like a monster. It doesn’t hurt the Marlins that Adam Katz of Wasserman Media Group, which also represents Hanley Ramirez, is Cespedes’ agent as well. “This may be the big one for the Miami Marlins, the source said. “He fits all their needs [on and off the field].

Let's laugh at the Yahoo! Power Rankings
guys I love this team this year and I think its going to be pretty good season but I'm not jumping the gun either. The Marlins have played the nationals 5/11 games.(one more to go). They are the worst team in baseball.. On the plus side, the thing that worried me the most going into the season was the pen and they got a good thing going now.
