December 5, 201213 yr As long as he turns out to be a decent 2B down the line, then a good trade for us.
December 5, 201213 yr Good deal. We get a future 2B and probably make the MarlinsfansnowRaysfans happy because their team is now slightly better next year. Everybody wins.
December 5, 201213 yr It's fine by me. In his tenure here Escobar never did add much to the roster. I look forward to whoever we trade Dietrch for.
December 5, 201213 yr What's our future lineup look like 1-2 years down the road? 1B - Morrison (assuming he performs/stays) 2B - Dietrich SS - Hechevarria 3B - ????/Cox C - Brantley/Realmuto LF - Yelich/Ozuna+Platoon CF - Marisnick/Ruggiano/Yelich/??? RF - Stanton (assuming he stays) That seem accurate?
December 5, 201213 yr Capozzi says they are going to reinvest the 5 million for a third baseman. 2 million for Ryan Rayburn and 3 million for Brandon Inge.
December 5, 201213 yr Author The payroll will be less then revenue sharing income. The 5 mil will be spent and we will add a few more small pieces as well I am sure.
December 5, 201213 yr Realize that the only marlin right now thats making more than 1.75 million dollars is Ricky "4.48" Nolasco.
December 5, 201213 yr The payroll will be less then revenue sharing income. The 5 mil will be spent and we will add a few more small pieces as well I am sure. We're essentially looking at a 40 million dollar payroll then. That might be generous.
December 5, 201213 yr Realize that the only marlin right now thats making more than 1.75 million dollars is Ricky "4.48" Nolasco. You mean Ricky "76" Nolasco. Because the winning is all that matters.

Do we know if we're paying one lump sum or spreading it out over many years?
December 5, 201213 yr Yunel told Marlins he was not comfortable playing 3rd base according to Capozzi
December 5, 201213 yr Yea payroll is literally going to be 39 million. After they hired Redmond, they mentioned competition in spring, had a good feeling we might go back to the marlin way of trading good players and never signing anyone to more than a 1 year deal.
December 5, 201213 yr Yeah, I'm pretty okay with this. I really didn't want Escobar on this team, I don't care how starved for talent the team is.
December 5, 201213 yr Somebody asked what we owe on people no longer here. Ozzie 7.5 mill -- 2.5/yr '13-'14-'15 ARI 8 mill -- 4/yr '13-'14 TOR 4 mill -- probably 1/yr '13-'14-'15-'16 (some seem to think there was more than 4 mill in cash involved) Assuming the above, the totals would be 7.5 in '13, 7.5 in '14, 3.5 in '15 and 1 in '16, 19.5 total to dump the mistakes. Present value assuming 3% inflation would be about 1 mill less.

Dietrich is expected to play third base and shortstop at Class AA Jacksonville next year. http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/marlins/2012/12/05/yunel-escobars-change-of-heart-prompted-marlins-to-tarde-him/
