For July he's definitely MVP. Lets let the season finish though... I definetly agree. It looks like it has finally clicked for him. But people should not keep going to extremes. Let's see how this plays out. I have said all along the guy has the talent, but he needs to work some things out. I'm hoping he has done that. It could make this off season very interesting. Yeah exactly how I feel. I wasn't trying to say he is the greatest or anything like that but honestly I am just kinda surprised at him this yeah. He has always had some talent but like you said he needed to work things out and he has been the surprise for me this year anyways.

I know this hitting streak is getting fairly long but could it be his walks and stolen bases that are helping us win. I just want to know everybodys opinion on him helping us. He has scored 27 runs in 26 games and keeps getting on. Could he be the MVP right now for the Fish?

That may be, but as you said he has improved, I would argue he has much improved as practice at any position will do for you. He made some outstanding plays. I'm looking at the future for him and not the past. If he were a natural outfielder throughout his full career, I would put more stock into his past numbers and be quicker to say he is a poor defender. This may be a case of agreeing to disagree. Agreed 100% on all of your points. Give CC a break for now. Sign some good arms and either a CF and lets Cogs fight for 2B/3B or sign a 2B/3B and let him fight for the CF job. No he shouldn't just be handed the starting job but he should have a leg up on everybody else.

Well, being that my depression keeps coming and going, I haven't gotten much sleep lately, and when I have, its been at the wrong times (IE, falling asleep at 9 am...) so excuse me this once. Serious Mike, have you seen a mental health councillor about that depression? Its a very serious thing. I have seen several members of my family have horrible experiences with it. You should see an expert with no delay. I'm considering it, but for now I've got a good friend on here that I've been talking to who's been helping me a bit. We'll see, I mostly just need more distractions (school, job, etc). Working on all of that. Glad to hear somebody is helping with depression i have had it in the past and it is very serious just work at it and everything will be okay

Him winning the derby, putting on a show and being the talk of the break would almost make this crappy season ok. Who all was selected for the HR Derby?

Injury delay? Huh? Whose hurt? Infante got HBP. Umpire initially called it a foul. Replay clearly showed it only hit his hand. Jack argues, other umpires confer, they give him the base, now Wedge is arguing. Tommy is bitching about them delaying the game too long and to throw Wedge out. Thanks for the update being in South Carolina i have to watch all games threw game tracker (except when in Atl) so it gets kinda confusing for me sometimes plus i dont have internet so i have to go sit at a coffee shop and steal their wifi hahaha

Every offseason it's the same crap about how "we're trying to improve, defensively." It's crap. This defense is still the laughing stock of MLB in terms of defenses...get it fixed, already. /rant What do you think is going to happen when you have inexperience young players? For the most part, this team is no longer inexperienced. It's just a bad defensive team. Our three worst defensive players this year have been Gaby, Maybin, and Coghlan. Gaby is a rookie, Maybin is basically a rookie, and Coghlan is in his first full season playing a position that he had never played before the middle of last season. I think you can blame inexperience for the time being. Yes they are all young but you have to remember these guys aren't 12 and 13 they are grown men that get paid to play the game for a reason. The errors that are made are on fundamental plays witch there is no excuse for. Yes, some of the errors are from bad decision witch is were inexperience from being a Major League Player comes in hand. But when you throwing errors and dropping balls that should be caught is fundamentals and those plays should be made.

If the Red Soxs aren't willing to trade him to a contender in the AL then that probably means they think he can come back and pitch well so he'd probably be dealt to an NL Team. I'd love to see what he can do with us, either as a spot starter or long relief man in the bullpen but he could probably mentor our young pitchers and hopefully helping them become better and smarter pitchers. If he's coming cheap we should might as well give it a shot, I'd take him as a starter over Esteban Yan any day. I agree. Nothing else Smoltz would be a great leader to the younger pitchers.
