Who is this team's All Star this year?

Featured Replies

Leo Nunez? :lol

Seriously, it could be Leo Nunez representing the Marlins in the All-Star game. What a sad year it has been.

Anibal

I think he kinda f***ed up his great chance with last night's start. There are a lot of good starting pitchers in the NL.

I think it will be Anibal or Gaby over Nunez, but nothing will surprise me.

Gaby has a chance if they decide to take three 1B; that would be kinda dumb though, if they're trying to win the game.

Bochy knows what's up. Anibal has shutout his team twice

Erick, I don't think they will look at just his one bad start, Anibal has been pretty good this year, and probably should have something like 9 or 10 wins instead of just 6.

Leo was good early on, but came back to earth.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them there.

There are probably 7-8 closers more deserving than Leo too. With rosters as big as they are, I think that it won't be too straining to squeeze in the more deserving players, Gaby and Anibal.

Hope Anibal makes it, but...

Halladay, Jurrijens, Hamels, Lee, Kennedy, Kershaw, Cain, Lincecum...lots of good pitchers in the NL, and these eight, at least, are all having better years (+ you know Cain and Lincecum are going because of Bochy).

And since every team needs a representative, I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like Bud Norris goes for Houston. Teams like Houston are similar to the Marlins in the sense that they arguably don't have a deserving All-Star.

Based on individual numbers on the team though, Anibal certainly deserves to represent.

Gaby isn't having a better year than Prince or Votto. He's also not having a better year than a guy like Berkman who's more versatile, as well. I doubt he makes it.

Everyone around baseball loves the saves statistic, and Leo is 6th in the NL in that category, just two away from the leader. I wouldn't be shocked if he makes it.

I never said he was having a better year. I'm saying that the two Sanchezes have been clearly the best out of the Marlins players and that it would most likely be one of the two.

Fielder and Votto are the only two locks. Last year the NL (different manager, but it shouldn't matter), carried 4 1Bs, so it's not unprecedented.

The only other wild card is Morse. He's been better than Gaby, but he's a no-name player and could probably be a victim to the MLB rule requiring every team to have a rep.

Then again, since Ryan Zimmerman hasn't done much this year due to injury, I wouldn't be surprised if Morse becomes the Nationals' rep over Jordan Zimmermann. It's going to depend on whether or not Morse makes the team.

Drew Storen could go for the Nats, as well. Or Tyler Clippard; he's been dominant. That would help erase the Leo decision and maybe help Anibal.

It should be Mike Stanton, seeing as nobody else is really deserving and we could see him in the HR derby.

He'll probably be in the HR Derby, regardless. I would hope that Prince Fielder selects him.
