  1. Only Reynolds, Beltre, Longoria, Ramirez and Sandoval ranked amongst the top 60 in home runs. That's the same as the number of catchers, second baseman and centerfielders and only one more than shortstops (with Hanley injured). Wow. So Bonifacio's are becoming the norm at 3rd then.
  2. So the Marlins like Matt Dominguez over Aramis Ramirez...what happened to a $100 Million Payroll? This sounds like Same Old Marlins.
  3. I know it's not realistic, it's not even realistic that we're gonna get ONE...but damn, that's a line-up. That's an MLB The Show Fantasy Lineup.
  4. C - John Buck 1B - Albert Pujols 2B - Omar Infante SS - Jose Reyes 3B - Aramis Ramirez LF - Logan Morrison CF - Hanley Ramirez RF - Mike Stanton SP - Josh Johnson SP - CC Sabathia SP - CJ Wilson SP - Mark Buerhle SP - Anibal Sanchez Maybe have Nolasco and Zambrano pitching out of the pen. I'd do it. I dunno about you guys, but I'd do it. It would be difficult to find a place for Bonifacio though. But I'd do it. Would you do it? I'd do it. Any sane person would do it. Holy crap, if we fielded that roster next season we'd win 95 games!
  5. That's not too bad. I'm diggin all the guys who've said they'd come to Miami to play for Ozzie. Let's face it: The Marlins need a Miami Heat free agency. Something that would make Dan LeBatard scream on the radio.
  6. I heard somewhere in the neighborhood of $4 Mil a year for 4 years. $10 Million is a little much for manager, but it's not that crazy. I just hope we're not dipping out the "Take Your Talents To South Beach" fund by that much. I'll be damned if we sign a 2nd tier player cause Ozzie got more than Bo Porter would've. Not saying I wanted Bo Porter, I just don't want management pulling that on us.
  7. I really enjoyed it. Seeing all those old faces, both figuratively and literally, and the Top 10 moments of Franchise History. Dang, that gave me chills. Now, was it just me, or did Jack McKeon seem a bit...you know...tipsy? All in all, great ceremony. Don't know why Luis couldn't make it though, he's not on a roster now is he?
  8. From a Marlins standpoint: I was lucky enough to be at Josh Beckett's Game 5 performance against the Cubs in 2003. That was some of the finest post-season pitching I've ever seen and is lost in the shuffle of "Steve Bartman" and the 3-1 comeback. From a history standpoint: I saw Ken Griffy Jr. hit his 600th homerun against Mark Hendrickson. I was happy from the point I witnessed history, wasn't that happy that the Marlins lost the game because of another homerun. Not Griffy's, but Paul Bako's...
  9. Mark Burhele's comments of Ozzie Guillen today was an incredibly good sign. If any big name free agent signs because of Ozzie, I think he's the most likely. Can you imagine a rotation with him, JJ, and CJ? That's Philly-esque.
  10. Great attendance at the game today, around 34-35,000. I suspect at first, (first three weeks maybe?) we would see figures around that. Probably in the 29-33,000 range. If the team keeps winning and is in contention, it should stay like that. If we start playing like crap again, it's not gonna eclipse 16,000...and you can't blame that on the rain and football lights.
  11. so you've gotta hold your gay jokes. I like gay jokes. The colors are not good. Too much stuff going on at once and the Marlin itself looks a scribble mark of a first grader. A teal "M" woulda done just fine.
  12. If this was Javy's last start, than a complete game is one helliuva way to go out.
  13. Burhele played with him for 8 years. I think that's a MASSIVE bargaining chip with him.
  14. i really cant believe that they gave up marinez for a manager. well look, I'm not particularly thrilled about it either, but let's face it. Bullpen is a pretty deep position as it stands right now, particularly with the emergence of Steve Cishek. Jose Ceda may be in front of him as well. So it's not like giving up a starting pitcher or a solid position player in the minors. I was afraid they were going to give up someone like Christian Yelich or Kyle Skipworth. As far as I'm concerned, short of Jhan Martinez eventually winning a CY young or Ozzie Martinez winning an MVP, this was a pretty good move.
