Freedom of Expression* Even if non-governmental people (foolishly) call for the shutdown of CFA, that still isn't a First Amendment issue. As bob said, it only protects individuals against government repression of speech. Fine, freedom of expression.

Personally I don't understand why some folks are so freaking uptight about what two other consenting adults do in their free time. It literally has no effect on them. Say what you want about marriage, but most of them already end in divorce. Gays can't ruin marriage or make a mockery of it any more than the rest of the idiots already have. Lastly, gays are targeted by religious zealots because they are such a small minority. When do you hear about these people speaking so adamantly against other forms of sin? I don't see them doing their crusades against gluttony...probably because a lot more people are fat than gay. I agree with most of what you said and thought the end was humorous, but religious zealots aren't targeting gays, at least not in this situation.

Times like these bring out the real "turds in the punch bowl" on this board. Nothing has really been said that should hurt anyones feelings, there is very little to be optimistic about. People want to control his freedom and rights because he doesnt support their lifestyle. That is not ok. If you dont like what he stands for, go somewhere else. If it had nothing to do with freedom of speech we wouldn't be talking about it. Some people in America don't know what freedom of speech means which is why they are asking for CFA to be shut down. If they knew what it meant they wouldn't be perturbed by his comments, it's as simple as that. The man was ASKED about his company's views on the traditional family, and gay marriage, he didn't bring up the topic! So why There is no need to crucify him he never attacked the gay community.

Living in the United States gives us freedom of speech and opinion, there is nothing wrong with what he said and to add to that it's biblical. Thats all that really needs to be said. Living in the United States does not give you freedom from criticism for your speech and opinion. It is incredible to me that people still don't understand this. If Chick Fil A asks two gay people to leave for kissing, that's a hate crime. Now... if they're making a scene, of course that's a different story. But I don't think you're being fair. That's how those protests go? There's peaceful protests that are fully within the law that can and will be done to make a statement. I pretty much expect chick fil a to not confront a single person on gay day. Now, I do expect there to be conflict from other customers, but I dont think chick fil a will initiate anything. You know that people from both sides of the issue will try to be heroes though, and cause some sort of conflict. There's a party of people who are okay with letting people be people, and there's a party of people who are not okay with letting people be people. 'Gay day' as you call it is not some magical day where all the gay people try to tell straight people it's not okay to be straight. This so called 'Chick Fil A appreciation day' is an indirect attempt at saying 'it's not okay to be gay'. And if you ask me... it's okay to take offense to that. No it's not, it's Chick Fil A appreciation day. lol
