I love it. They put themselves on the hook for 190 mill in FA last year. It failed miserably. Decks cleared -- start over. Nolasco next. With 50+ million available to spend on 2013 if they wish. The ultimate in flexibility. If the payroll is still going to be in the 80-85 million range like some writers have said (which I seriously doubt at this point, trying to be optimistic here) they will have more like 70 million to spend. They just need to do it a bit more wisely than they did last season.

I have the feeling Kouzmanoff will be the opening day 3B.

We signed Kevin Kouzmanoff to a minor league deal today with an invite to spring training. If he can OPS ~.700 like he did with the Rockies (assuming he wins the job) I will take that for a year.

He gave up a crapload of homers this year. I wonder how that would have translated in our park.

Actually, it sounds like "[take] a knee, Val". Replace the V with B; emphasis on KNEE. Not Annabelle. Not Hannibal. A-NEE-Bal. Yep, since this is how Rich Waltz always pronounced it, that's what I always went with. But on SportsCenter earlier one of the lady anchors called him "Anabelle", and I literally cursed at my television. And he doesn't even pitch for us anymore!

It blows my mind how people everywhere insist on calling him "Annabelle Sanchez."

I agree, would be nice to at least even see a Wild Card game. Since 2003, my two favorite sports teams have combined for one playoff series/game. With the playoffs comes legitimacy and respectability, if only briefly. I'd like to see that once in a while. Hey, mine too. Can't very well get rid of my Tampa Bay Bucs tattoo though. I would love to hear Cogz try to pronounce his team's name. Doesn't he have a rather thick southern drawl? Miguel Batista, Bartolo Colon and Hector Luna are also currently on this team. Cool.
