March 15, 200422 yr Samson said progress is being made. They don't have a site as yet. He is faithful that things will get done by 2007. (???) This is according to WSVN news. :whistle The County and the team have made progress, but the city is stalling. Hialeah is the only city in Dade County that could afford such a project, but the Marlins don't want it there. They said no site is being counted out, but Hialeah Racetrack isn't their favorite. Hialeah Racetrack is an excellent place for a stadium and it is also next to the Metrorail.

That's what I say and Hialeah has great credit and can issue bonds easily because they already have voter approval from a referendum in the 2000 elections on a Marlins Ballpark in Hialeah.
March 15, 200422 yr One of the Marlins insiders on this board must submit the Hialeah Racetrack property as a suggestion. We need to make sure they are aware of this site. It is owned by a family who has failed in the horse racing business who want to sell.

I bet they don't even know how Miami's streets are divided and why Hialeah has at least two names for every street. It can never hurt to make sure they know.
March 15, 200422 yr Cape, Hialeah already has a metrorail stop right next to the race track, and with the future stops you told us about a while back, I think access should not be a problem. Furthermore, there are countless baseball fans in Hialeah who for 6 bucks in the upper bowl would fill up the stadium.
March 15, 200422 yr Absolutely! I agree 100%. Hialeah may be the answer. Again, why not a Hialeah site? Is it because of Raul Martinez or the Marlins organization?

Furthermore, there are countless baseball fans in Hialeah who for 6 bucks in the upper bowl would fill up the stadium. by access i mean highways. US 27 and the Palmetto (826) are the only major roads that reach the place. But in it's heyday the roads were worse and they got more people than 38,000 and it went well. The Marlins at Hialeah Park would be perfect because Hialeah is also baseball crazy, they have voter approval, and they have the money.
March 15, 200422 yr Cape, by the time a stadium would be ready in Hialeah, the PPS metrorail station would be almost ready and that way people from up north could park there and take the train into the ballpark. Also, there is a new metrorail station right off of the palmetto which is two stops away from the race track.
March 15, 200422 yr Broward, Palm Beach, Orange, Duval, and Osceola Counties have the money and can build this ballpark. Whoa Nellie! If Broward/PB have so much money, then why have their county officials been so quiet up to now? When the "Friends of the Marlins" organized in Broward last year, not a SINGLE Broward politico stood up to support the plan in ANY way. Don't think the Office Depot Center deal still has them scratching their heads! All Palm Beach has had to offer up to now in Don King's land way up in Northern PB, and of course no politico there has said anything on the record either. Miami-Dade, like it or not people, is our best shot right now unless someone speaks up.

March 15, 200422 yr Hialeah wouldnt be bad because of the metrorail because 826 is the worst for traffic. Lets just see what happens

I picked your quote because it was the last one that showed any ranting against the local politicians. The next 45 days should be interesting, if not just as frustrating as the past few months have been with this stadium issue. I'll take Hialeah Park as a stadium site. Highway access isn't the best as has already been stated, but Metrorail access makes up for a lot of that.
