I was flipping through stations and heard him on...so I listened for a few and WOW someone had just called asking FatAss what he thought about Marlins and New Stadium plans...

 

Funny how FatAss quickly dismissed the question in one sentence and went to talking about how some race track was Not watered down properly.

 

GIMME A BREAK....someone calls to talk about the Fish....and FatAss wants to change the subject to talk about Horses... Man what a Gambling Addict....

 

 

What Pisses me off is the fact that theres a sports station and they refuse to talk about the FISH.... All they talk about is the Low Life Dolphins and how they will go to the super Bowl.... Get a Clue...the dolphins will do the same thing they have done for the past decade....CHOKE

:lol This is true half the time according to that station a Dolphins practice is more important than a Marlins game. That is why I get mostly all of my Marlins information from here.

For whatever reason, Hank has an anti-Marlin agenda. It really pi**es me off every time I hear him bashing the stadium plans, or the team.

 

how QAM..the supposed voice of the Marlins....let's him get away with it on air is beyond me.

I think that Beasley should do with WQAM like what they did here in Fort Myers with WWCN. Keep the play-by-play alone, but pick up ESPN radio full time except when there is play-by-play, in Neil's time slot, and on the drive home.

He is a Mets fan, but he doesn't bash the Marlins, in fact he is constantly talking about them. He interviews Dolphins players more often than WQAM and knows more things about more sports than anybody should.

 

Due to the NCAA Tourney, he is on in the mornings, but he is usually on in drive time.

I'm always glad when Boog Sciambi replaces Hank for the late afternoon spot. It is a great change of pace. Boog is always a great Marlins supporter with good inside team infomation.

This is the reson I went to Satellite radio I get to listen to real sports talk shows that talk about everything not just Dolphins and horse racing. Hank and the whole WQAM guys just blow, this goes for local TV the other night I am watching WB and Joe Rose lead story was on the Dolphins David Boston he did not complete the physical today so he will not signed on until tommorrow then he goes into an interview with Fiedler about having Boston to throw to. Maybe he sholud have ask Fiedler if was going to be starting or on the bench, meanwhile that same evening the Panthers were in a big game with Islanders and David Boston not finishing his physical was the lead in story. The problem wityh this town is that there are way too many EX Football jocks(Miami Dolphins) doing sports who have no idea what been a true sportscaster is all about and until that changes this town will continue to have second rate sportscasters.

Luckily, I can listen to ESPN Radio here in Fort Myers via WQAM's AM 770. We get ESPN Radio except for local play-by-play (120 Marlins games in 2004!), Thom Abraham in mornings (he is leaving in a couple of weeks) and David Moulton from 4-7 PM.

 

FSN Florida, ESPN and AM 770 are the major sources for sports out here since the two major local stations don't do much sports outside a 2:45 segment at 6 and 11 PM.

Anybody remember the Morning Bullpen? Well Carl Foster is looking to start an ESPN Radio station in Miami with some local talk in the morning and drive time plus some play-by-play (Marlins?) on WAXY 790. You better cross all your fingers and toes and hope he gets it done or y'all in Miami will go mad between WQAM's Dolphin propaganda and Jim Rome's lunacy on WRFX.

ESPN radio, especially in the afternoons they have tha Dan Patrick show this week him and Rob Dibble were in Arizona it was great.

I saw DP on ESPN2 this afternoon, but 770 was airing NCAA so I ahd to listen online at ESPNRadio.com if I wanted to tune in, but I decided to watch the baseball game instead.

 

Dibble should stay on the radio and off the BBTN set. The Baseball Show on weekends is good too.

I remember when he was really anti-Heat (don't know if he still is) but he would suddenly switch his opinions on the Heat when he would be talking with Pat Riely. he's still entertaing to listen to sometimes but most of the hosts on QAM suck. i only like Boog and the Big O. there's like 3 or 4 guys who come on on the weekends who have a simmular annoying voice. can't stand those guys

Well Boog, if he doesn't leave the market, will move with the Marlins to a new station if that ever happens.

 

Big O is available and rumor has it is looking to move to a station which will give him a proper show and budget for the show so he can travel with the Dolphins and not have to use his own money. (Yes, WQAM is that cheap.)

I think local sports reporters on the radio is good - but only when they give all the franchises in town a fair shake. Here in Tallahassee, we USED to have a pretty decent sports radio station - but after 9/11 they switched to news format with some sports. I havent listened nearly as often.

 

There could be a good market for sports radio in Miami - beyond a Dolphins mouthpiece (which makes me sick - and I am a Dolphins' fan. But that is quickly fading).

Johnny, I totally agree with you. WQAM used to be one of the best stations in Miami. Lets go back to before the Dolphins invaded and Paxson blew up WIOD.

 

WQAM used to air Marlins games, Rush Limbaugh (yes the lovable fur ball used to be on 560), a show with these two guys who used to call rush and make bets about the Dolphins (Rush had to sing the Dolphins fight song once on the EIB network lol), Panther games, and aired some newscasts from CBS Radio News. They had a morning show which wasn't anything huge, but got the job done.

 

Then in 1996 Beasley took over, the Dolphins invaded, WIOD blew up, Neil came over later and WQAM became a wasteland for the stupid on the air.
