I'm Going To Heaven

Why I Have Myself Full Coverage

Just recently someone said that they are morally superior to myself, because their faith permits their entrance to heaven and my belief in needing evidence condemns me to hell. Sure, this assertion is totally wrong if the following are true: heaven is illogical, the belief in the Christian/faith based God is illogical, God really does not care, ect. However, using their logic, I can prove why I have better "heaven coverage" than those who rely on faith.

Let's assume God is all powerful and omniscient. Furthermore, let us assume there are signs of intelligent design throughout the universe. God was the shaper of the universe and its attributes dictate that being all powerful and omniscient means the universe and what is within it has purpose. One can then assume if God created man (directly or indirectly) than God being all powerful and omniscient dictates what actions of man are truly moral, because God is the creator of everything. Inherent in the nature of morality is to not needlessly kill, maim, steal, and ect., but furthermore the universe's purpose dictates that all beliefs must be based upon evidence.

This is proven, because a belief without evidence cannot be known to be true, so having such a belief would be against a purposeful God whose will is to have beliefs acquired from experience, logic, and evidence. This can be proven by the fact that we could never truly know if anything is true unless it is proven to us with evidence and this being a fact or life is surely the will of a God that made this so. Therefore, basing any beliefs on faith are inherently immoral (to what extent is irrelevant.) Because of this, having faith in God (or any faith at all) is therefore against God's will, and so the theists and atheists go to hell while the Agnostics enjoy the splendor of heaven and hanging out with Jesus, Zeus, or whoever.

Would it not seem stupid if an all powerful and all intelligent creator would make it an universal law to accept beliefs not on faith besides the exception for belief in itself. Why would such an all encompassing God make such a blatant error in its reasoning and will...such an inconsistancy? Unless God is heavily flawed, this would not be possible, so therefore faith-based beliefs (like having 100% faith that an exploding nuclear bomb won't kill you) are against God's will. When one considers the preceding, the conclusion one should come to is fairly obvious.

This is Pascal's "wager argument": http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/pascal-wager/. In it he debates that having faith gives you the slimmest of chances (1 out of infinity) of being right and going to heaven, so one has no choice but to take that chance in order to gain infinite happiness. However, I can think of better wages to make...

If we were just to base a belief purely on faith (all contradictions and inconsistencies left behind), the chance of your belief being true is 1 out of infinity and the chance that such a belief gets you into heaven is the same. However, just on faith, I can purposely have faith in other crazy things and have the same chance you have. I can start praying to cheeseburgers. Think about it, maybe the whole Jesus, Holy Spirit, and Thunder God things are true, but there is one little difference you did not know about: they wanted you to pray to cheeseburgers the whole time. This means before the cheeseburger was invented, everyone went to hell, and afterwards whoever followed the quarter pounders with cheese got heaven for the small small price of a life time of faith in "the burger."

That's why this faith argument is totally wrong. One should always strive for the truest (not most convenient) belief they can strive to have based on evidence. Every other belief on Earth runs this way. If God had made any purpose whatsoever, surely acquiring beliefs in the correct matter follows such a purpose.

This is why William James is an idiot. Here's a quote from James that sums up all his beliefs: "Believe life is worth living and your belief will help make that fact." What does that mean? It means if you want a belief to be true, just believe it. So let's make a million beliefs true, William James style:

You walk in on your spouse cheating:

"I believe my spouse is not cheating and my belief will help make that fact."

You got a 2.33 this semester:

"I believe I got a 4.0 and my belief will help make that fact."

You want to believe that Osiris is truly the God of the underworld:

"I believe Osiris is truly the God of the underworld and my belief will help make that fact."

You want to believe the Red Sox won 26 world series in the last 100 years:

"I believe the Red Sox won 26 world series and my belief will help make that fact."

News flash people, you belief does not make anything fact. Evidence and logic makes facts. Faith is not a truth claim. If God wanted us to live lives of believing things for no good reason, then how come we have developed and expanded upon facts we have learned legitimately to where we are today? To have belief systems inconsistant with the evidence based belief is contrary to a purposeful God and no matter how much you WANT something to be true, the above proves your desire to be irrelevant.

So that is why I an agnostic have full coverage. I have been as consistant as I possibly can (to the best of my ability) with my beliefs and how I develop new ones, so unless God is a crazed lunatic who does not know what it wants (though that would explain a lot of the random stupid crap in existence, but randomness explains this too), I am doing exactly what the generally accepted God wants. Any God worth praying to would want people to be agnostic.

But why should I care? I really do not, because I really do not know what exactly God is or whether or not it exists. I just know that people should be MORAL and acquire their beliefs in the moral and CORRECT manner. After all, if anything wanted to punish us, we would hope it would be for our immorality, not our morality.

hahahaha! Your weak minds are being blown away by something that isn't illogical and spoon fed to you. I'm going to laugh at you in heaven and Jesus and I will throw fire balls at you to watch you suffer in hell.

I mean how can I coutner such well made arguments as "ppffffttttt" and "*walks away slowly*". I mean, if those aren't a validation for a belief, what is, huh? :lol :lol

Pathetic counter arguments thus far:

ppffffttttt

*walks away slowly*

Is that the best you Christians can do? Being willfully ignorant cannot be going well with your creator.

Furman, is your GPA 2.33?

Seriously, would that surprise any of us?

ppffffttttt

*walks away slowly*

I have a better counter argument...

Lots of space and 3 dots... how can you beat that?

Okay, so here's what we have so far:

-

-ppffffttttt

-*walks away slowly*

-"... [insert space here] ..."

Not a very strong showing for the theists.

Seriously people, if you don't want to talk intelligently about something, just don't respond instead of insulting me by being disrespectful. Obviously, you "morals" weren't instilled well enough from your "religion."

-Soriano Sucks

Okay, we get a brand new insult against a baseball player (because obviously, my name isn't Soriano.)

I think the smoking gun in the bible (of course proving the gospels true) was this:

And Jesus said, "Listen my children, if you are not christian, you suck."
