Miguel Cabrera at 1st base?

Featured Replies

This weeks Sporting News issue has Miguel Cabrera taking grounders in RF, third base and yes 1st base. McKeon said that he could have a future at 1st base.

Ugh here we go

No, Cabs has too good of an arm, and moves well.

Perhaps in about another 18 years it might be a good idea.

i have heard he takes practice at all the corner spots because Jack trusts him as a replacement over everyone.

move cabrera to SS if he goes to the infield!!!

you stay out of this :lol

He loses a ton of his value at 1B...that would be STUPID.

exactly. If he played third he has the reaction time to be SS and wait...he WAS a SS in AA. So let him take grounders there. A Gon is not going to hit better than choi...probably.

#1 none of us make the decisions

#2 there is a reason he moved away from SS

#3 if it aint broke dont fix it.

If he goes in the infield, it should be SS. We don't need a first baseman. We have Choi, Cordero, Conine, and the future is Stokes. SS is the weakest position we have right now. Wilson Valdez is the future there.

Ya, there has to be a good reason he was moved to 3B...I mean who was more likely to block him? Lowell or A-gon? He probably doesnt have what it takes to be a ML quality defensive SS...the most important position in the field.

Actually, if Lowell leaves, I believe they will move cabs to third base and give a prospect like Jeremy Hermida or Jason Stokes a chance to claim the right field job...

Valdez now is 25 and is shedding the prospect label after this year so it will be harder if after gonzos contract expires that he takes over since he will be a rookie at 28 years old (Gonzo signed a 3 yr contract).

2 year contract I believe.
