April 14, 200422 yr nobody's tellin the guy not to clear his name and pee in a cup. hell, donald fehr went ahead and said it's perfectly okay for him to do it if he wants. Sure he did... in public. And to nc marlin, he IS in the union, he's not part of their royalties program, he represents himself in advertising and stuff.
April 14, 200422 yr We're clearly never going to agree on this and that's fine, but I think it kind of sucks that anytime we talk about him as a player people have to jump in with the steroids stuff, like we don't already know about it. Understandable, we both have our good points to back up what we say. But, I mean honestly, I think we can agree on this....is it that hard to ask for him to test for a year and prove he's ? It clears up his name for good, and don't give me that "privacy" bs that the players union says because you and I know better. He's not in the Union so he could probably get tested independently. he's in the union, he just doesnt have a product licensing agreement with them. but thats beside the point. contrary to what gene orza had said, the union does not prohibit players from getting their pee tested if they want to... thats straight from the mouth of donald fehr at the congressional hearing.
April 14, 200422 yr And it's kind of stupid that the fact that he's good makes him suspicious. Hank Aaron was pretty damn good at this age. :mischief2
April 14, 200422 yr Understandable, we both have our good points to back up what we say. But, I mean honestly, I think we can agree on this....is it that hard to ask for him to test for a year and prove he's innocent? It clears up his name for good, and don't give me that "privacy" bs that the players union says because you and I know better. No it's not, but I still see his point. If he does it and someone else doesn't, then they can go to the other guy and say "WELL BARRY DOES IT!" and I'm sure he doesn't want to throw people under the bus like that. Isn't everybody under the bus already?? I mean any home run record from now until players are tested will be doubted because of the potential steroid use. If anything, Bonds getting tested would be GREAT for the game. That way, everybody can get tested, ane we can find out who is and who isn't cheating.

April 14, 200422 yr Why does he get singled out though? Why does he have to be the one to do it? How about they just fix the agreement so they all have to do it.
April 14, 200422 yr Why does he get singled out though? Why does he have to be the one to do it? How about they just fix the agreement so they all have to do it. You, as well as I know, that isn't going to happen in the current climate. Somebody is going to have to step up. It might as well be the one guy who the most people are suspecious of. I agree, he shouldn't be singled out. Guys like Sheffield, Giambi, Bagwell, and Sosa should also be mentioned more. Fact of the matter is though, none of the other guys have 661 home runs, are doing what Bonds is doing in his late 30's, or gained 30 pounds in one offseason (well Sosa might have actually, but you see my point).
April 14, 200422 yr bonds doesn't have to pee in a cup. he has every right not to. but if he doesnt want people mentioning steroids whenever they hear bonds, he might want to clear his name. espn isn't holding him down (they're riding his jock actually)--public perception is. it's up to him to not look like a cheater.
April 14, 200422 yr same guy caught 661 that caught 660. crazy... He's going to be a very rich man soon ... Well, he gave the last one back, he'll probably do the same this time. And no, we don't mean 661* Prove it. And don't give me 2 pictures next to each other or "It's SO obvious!" Prove it. Guys, do we expect to find a picture of Bonds shooting up? How much more evidence do you need? Even though the urine test can prove useful, there's so many ways to be the test anyway. Everyone has to concede that Bonds MOST LIKELY juiced, end of story.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever read. There's no evidence you hypocrite. get out of America. It's innocent until proven guilty not the other way around. Just because you can put two pictures next to each other doesn't mean the guy's a juicer.
April 14, 200422 yr For the less intelligent people on this board: -sudden explosion of girth in 1999 -poster boy for a known steroid ring -leaks indicate the receiving of steroids -personal trainer most probably will be impriosed for distributing steroids -massive change in physical characteristics There's not much more evidence we can get but photographic evidence of bonds shooting up and positive urine samples (2 things that are probably not going to happen.) go away troll

BUT Enough with your posts concerning "The less intelligent people on this board". Just because you think you know everything gives you ZERO right to come down on other members of this board. I'm sick and tired of seeing it.
April 14, 200422 yr look here is the bottom line. MLB and their players have opened themselves to this kind of skeptism. You know why? Because of that totally worthless, slap in the face of fans, drug policy they had to have during the last bargaining session. They felt that this would give them a drug policy so people will get off their back. Its only gotten worse, cause so many see it as just that...a slap in the face. MLB and the Players Association have nobody to blame but themselves. Until they can get up to par with the other professional sports on drug testing...people will remain to be like this. If these two entities were smart....which would be saying a lot...they would agree to immediate drug testing. Then fi they arent cheating like they say they are....this 'black eye' will go away rapidly. Or the truth will be known.

I Agree 100% with Das, The current drug testing policies are a joke End the fiasco, and put a real drug testing program in place. Is Barry Bonds on juice? who knows. But the fans deserve to know for sure, and this cloud and doubt should be removed from the game forever. We are talking about putting this man at the same level as Aaron, Ruth, Williams, Mays, etc. This should not be taken lightly. . .

You don't mention how Bonds had never even hit 50 before the 73 season. Also, his personal trainer is going to jail in part for distributing steriods to BASEBALL players. And it's kind of stupid that the fact that he's good makes him suspicious. Hank Aaron was pretty damn good at this age.? That's just wrong to say Hugg and you know it. Hank Aaron was a CONSISTENT 40 or so home run hitter his ENTIRE career. Heck, he NEVER even hit 50. Plus, Aaron never had a 30 POUND GAIN OF "MUSCLE" IN ONLY ONE OFFSEASON. To even insinuate Aaron was on steroids because he was "good at that age" is just beyond stupid. I know you don't think he was ACTUALLY on them, obviously steroids didn't even exist during his career. But to compare Aaron to Bonds and say people are suspecious of Bonds "because he's good" is stupid. I was gonna list the facts on Bonds again to remind people how much circumstantial evidence is against him, but luckily SorianoFan did it for me. In the words of Tony Kornheiser, "THAT'S IT, I WIN!!!" :lol
April 14, 200422 yr Author thanks for ruining my thread kids... #1 roids or no roids 661 HRs is IMPRESSIVE #2 like any of us could do it with or without roids #3 you all argue too much.
April 15, 200422 yr No one is saying 661 is not incredible. Only one man on steroids ever passed 660, so that is incredible obviously. However, to expect people not to be a little pissed when ESPN keeps saying "Is he the best ever?" is absurd.
April 21, 200422 yr 7 straight games with a homer :jump unbelievable. Even for him His OPS is now above 2.000 WOW!
April 21, 200422 yr 7 straight games with a homer :ph34r : unbelievable. Even for him His OPS is now above 2.000 WOW! I, as the proud owner of the North Brampton Ski Mongrels, am happy to hear this. :thumbup
April 21, 200422 yr Yeah, this is starting to get ridiculous. At this rate, he's going to hit .400, get the Triple Crown, and break his own single-season walks record. And he's also going to turn 40 in July. When, oh when, does the inevitable decline begin?
