My CPU got ganked!!!!

My desktop rig got hijacked.

Came home tonite and was pleasantly greeted with a new default homepage on my Internet Explorer......Porn! :thumbup

So now regardless of what I do to change it every time I open IE I get porn. And to make matters even better every once in awhile I was getting random pop-ups for a Danish rape fantasy porn site. :banghead

Truly the gift that keeps on giving. After wasting my night with research I DL'ed a washing program that got rid of the Danish rape site and all the spyware, but looks like the homepage hijack program is brand-new and there isn't anything to fix it outside of doing some really geeky, computer-nerd line by line programming, which of course I do not have the time, inclination nor cognitive resources to complete. :mad :

OK, venting complete.

Yup, you've been hi-jacked. Stay from the porn. :thumbup

j/k

You know, my prison couselor always told me that my perversion to Scandanavian rape fantasies would one day catch up to me, but I always thought he was just trying to scare me. Who knew? :D

I actually have no idea how it got there. NO really, I don't. I'm not really big on the whole porn surfing thing.

My office computer is full of spyware and it's hard to get rid of, even though I have Ad-Aware, Spybot, & Norton. Yesterday, Max was here at work with me and we clicked "OK" on a message box that looked okay and all of a sudden, the spyware infested my computer. We spent like more than half an hour trying to get rid of it. It's pathetic the things they do. The message box we clicked on opened right after I was trying to update Windows Media Player. It was asking me if I wanted to install it under my log on name or the administrator settings. Be extra careful what you click on.

Spybot has worked wonders for me...but it doesn't get everything.

Make sure that whenever a gray box that asks you 'yes' or 'no', you always pick no. That will reduce your chances of becoming infested.

I do. I never click yes. Just that yesterday that thing that popped up looked legit and then all of a sudden.....yea.... :confused .

Use Ad-Aware fish fillet. It will get rid of all the spyware and if your using IE, click on Tools, then Internet Options, Then click on Delete Cookies, when your done delteting it, then click on Delete files (its right next to Delete Cookies), when you have deleted the Files, click on Settings, then click on View Files, and delete all the those files.

That should do it.

I deleted all the TIF's and cookies, and now the random pop-ups are gone. But the IE homepage is still locked on a porn sight.

Pretty impressive when people are over and I fire up my CPU....

That really did work! Nice. I was having a lot of trouble with the spyware and this totally fixed it big time.

never been hijacked, but then again I use Google's search bar companion to block most of the pop ups that these things come on and I have Norton AntiVirus 2004 which uninstalls them as soon as they become installed and tells me with this neat little window with a fired bazooka on it.

I also got hi-jacked. The site didn't have porn on it, but rather was like a search engine main page. I was told it is a worm and Norton doesn't have a virus fix for it. I printed out instructions a couple of days ago on how to go into the registry to remove the worm file but haven't tried to do it yet.

I sucks big time.

You have to use a combination of programs in order to get rid of Adware and Spyware. It took me about a week to get rid of bunch of trojans and adware.I had this trojan on my computer that would download adware on to my computer. You can't imagine how annoying all those ads were but at least I didn't have any porn ads.The best thing to do is reboot your computer on safe mode and use several programs to delete adware.I also recommend scanning your computer for trojan horses.

The best program in my opinion is Bazooka but you have to delete stuff manually using regedit. The program scans system and tells you which strings to delete. It will take a while but is really the best program because it detects adware that other program don't.
