June 10, 200422 yr Is there a set of guys that are untouchable come trade time? Or is everyone a fair game in order to get a key piece to solidify this team? based on what I read here, Hermida and Willingham seems pretty untouchable. Toughts?
June 10, 200422 yr Hermida i'd be willing to part with Stokes, Willingham, and others, but grudgingly
June 10, 200422 yr I wouldnt part with Stokes unless we were getting something that we really need - like trading him to the Yanks for catcher prsopect Dioneer Navarro and a player. The other player who has come out of nowhere to earn a Top 5 prospect ranking is Adam Bostick. The guy has a 2 something ERA and has something like 1.5 SO for every IP. These are not exact numbers since im too lazy to look them up =). I wouldnt trade him Adam either. Untouchables (unless we get something very good and cheap in return): Heremida, Stokes, Murphy, Bostick
June 10, 200422 yr You can never call a player completely untouchable however Hermida looks like he is on the fast track. I would also think people like Olsen and Bazardo are not likely to move since they are young power arms. Anything can happen...

I would also think people like Olsen and Bazardo are not likely to move since they are young power arms. Anything can happen... my opinion, I think if you have a Prior or a Beckett in the minors, I would say those guys were as untouchable as it can be. I can see a GM, responding and saying "no thanks" as soon as any of those names were suggested on a trade by another GM.
June 10, 200422 yr Hermida is untouchable. I would think it would take something very good for us to part with Olsen or Bazardo. The guy I think will be traded by the deadline is Jason Stokes. His trade value is high right now, and he really doesn't have a spot on this team in the future with Choi at 1st and Hermida is our future left fielder not Stokes.
June 10, 200422 yr That is what I am saying, While making trade offers i think we have names we GIVE and names we do not. Of course Olsen and Bazardo could be dealt but I think if it is all relative Benifest would rather trade a Hutch than either.
June 10, 200422 yr I think that we all probably thought Adrian Gonzalez was untouchable... Yeah, but Stokes came along and they liked him better. Adrian has really been a bust to this point as a #1 pick if you ask me. But so has that whole 2000 draft class. Justin Wayne was #5.

Justin Wayne has been one of the most successful players in that draft. That tells you something.
June 10, 200422 yr Jeremy and Yorman That's all. i'd have to agree Jeremy= sick Yorman=future closer, raw, only 19
June 10, 200422 yr I think that we all probably thought Adrian Gonzalez was untouchable... Difference was we had a damn good backup plan in his place in Stokes.
June 10, 200422 yr Everyone has a price, the price is just higher for some than others. A lot of it has to do with previous investment in terms of (1)what did it cost to get the palyer and/or (2) what have we put into him since we got him. Additionall factors include: (3) organizational needs and (4) the development of the player since he was aquired. Hermedia has a high price b/c he cost us a high pick. Willingham was a low pick, but a lot has been invested in him. Thus, he was put on the 40 man roster to protect him from a rule 5 draft.
June 10, 200422 yr I expect The Ramp to hate on me big time: I am not high on Willingham. :plain this coming from a cowboy fan /end make no sense of an insult
June 10, 200422 yr as for the question... no one is untouchable in the system except that Willingham guy :ramp
June 11, 200422 yr im new to marlins but live 15 minutes from the jupiter hammerheads and much to my surpise you guys had an awesome hitter in will smith ut traded him to texas fr ugi but he will be great in a couple more years
June 11, 200422 yr Smith was a solid prospect but he is not even on the Texas top 10 this season. The fish paid alot but in the end it was ALL worth it.
June 11, 200422 yr no one if it gets us to the playoffs Exactly. That was pretty much proven last year.
