June 17, 200422 yr What we really need is a solid 1-2 inning reliver...someone along the lines of Paul Quantrill, Mike Timlin, etc. I think we should give our "cousins" the Rockies a call and see if we cant swing a deal for Chacon
June 17, 200422 yr The Marlins' name mentioned most often on Red Sox radio? Carl Pavano, they were talking about him two months ago, and they still were last week. Don't be surprised to hear Gammons linking the two soon. :hat The rumors are already out there Carl for Nixon Carl for D. Mirabelli and a prospect all of this trade rumors are Boston fans trying to find a way to get Carl back in Boston. ...but it does bring up a good question should we trade a pitcher for help in the bullpen and if possible another bat? no way in hell we should trade one of our starters. "the rotation" is finally together and relatively healthy. when we get into the playoffs i want every one of those horses ready to go.
June 17, 200422 yr We all know Kim has had pitching issues in Boston... but so did Fox last year with Boston. It's a sign.

I don't think the FO would even consider trading one of our starting pitchers at this point. You simply don't do that if you're contending, as we are. Trading one of our starting pitchers is impossible, so I would discard that in any possible trade scenario.

I guess if you want to build for the future, and not win now
June 17, 200422 yr I would CONSIDER trading Pavs to the Pirates for Benson and Kendall (of which the Pirates would have to eat some considerable salary to make it workable). But there is no way that ever happens and even that is not a good deal for me. I dont think you should break up the starting rotation - that is clearly the strength of this team and probably the best rotation in all of baseball (along with Cubs).
