Another priceless Bonds quote

Featured Replies

I can't believe no one caught this and it hasn't been made into a bigger deal:

(from Sports Weekly):

"The Boston Globe asked Barry Bonds if he thought he'd ever have anything named after him in San Francisco akin to the Ted Williams tunnel in Boston. 'Nothing, man,' Bonds said. 'I'm black. They don't build stuff for blacks.' Bonds made his comments in the locker room of his home ballpark, SBC Park, which is located at 24 Willie Mays Plaza and on (Willie) McCovey Cove, not to mention across the waterway from McCovey point at China Basin, a park built in honor of the Giants' slugger. Statues of Mays and McCovey adorn each location."

Bonds=asshat.

lol... i'm pretty sure the globe reporter was baiting him with that question.

the dumbass took the bait. :lol

The whole Racist thing has some found because The RedSox had such poor race relations for a time but to attack the city and say it will never change is completly ridiculous and shows what kind of clown this guy has become.

My father was born and lived in Boston for quite some time. My grandmother until she passed lived and other family of mine so I Have plenty of experience up there including owning property for some time.

He is a complete a**hole he even says "what I've heard", oh that's so damning to Boston. Boston is a great city of hardworking people and ask anyone who came from there. Their damn proud to be a bostonian but of course their goes Barry trying to make headlines again and that's all this is a publicity campaign by this animal.

Bonds can eat it because Boston is a great city and is full of great people. Barry's only basis of comparison is himself and that's all he cares about and it's pretty clear what kind of person he is.

What year does he think it is 1963?

apparently.

he seems to think everything revolves around race.

i'd bet retarded s*** like that crosses his mind every time he talks to a white person.

As half African American this kind of stuff really makes me mad.

These are the kind of comments that alienate minorities into believeing stuff that isnt true.

Also, if he is such a great Christian he wouldnt let this kind of stuff get under his skin.

When has Bonds been in Boston? Maybe a few times for the all-star game and that is probably it.

i an't wait till the S.O.B retires and he wont be news anymore or he gets busted for roids which ever comes first.

Never, he wasn't at that AS Game.

Another hack job by the media making Bonds out to be the bad guy because he is black and he doesn't kiss their ass.

They asked him if he would ever play in Boston, and he said no because of how racist Boston is (which he should be commended for having the balls to say it). He brought up the Ted Williams tunnell and said they would never name it after him if he played for Boston because he was black.

Bonds gets crap for being honest and saying what's on his mind and not sugar coating things or kissing people's ass. The world would be a much better place if more people were like that.

Did you even read the quote? He was asked if he'd get anything named after him IN SAN FRANCISCO.

If Barry said that the sun rises in the west, would you still lick his balls (metaphorically)

That's a joke, how many times have you been in Boston?

Boston is far from racist yet this complete assclown has to run his mouth on a place he's never been.

I can't wait till Bonds goes to The AL and bashes San Fran.

He's such a freaking moron. :thumbdown

I've been to Boston plenty of times and coming from the only major city that predominantly black and run by blacks I'm appalled by Boston's attitude towards racism. They act as long as they can ignore it and push it away that it's not happening. Fact is Roxbury is a slum and Boston made it that way and don't give a crap. Just as long blacks aren't downtown or in the suburbs interacting with my kids.

Nonetheless if Bonds think Boston has problems with its black superstars he should talk to Ellis Burks.

I don't see where everyone is getting this "Bonds thinks Boston is racist" connection. It was just a Globe reporter asking him if anything would be built with his name. Unless I'm missing something....

Or how about Bill Russell? They were winning all those championships and nobody came to the games because they were led by a couple black guys. They win a few more led by a couple white guys and they have no problem getting people to go to the games.

Or what about the fact that the Sox were the last team to integrate?

Bonds has had to deal with a lot of racism in his career, so why would he want to live in a city that has a reputation for being the most racist in America?

How long ago was Bill Russell? Times change. People change. Although is every city, you will find the closed-minded.

I have a question: according to your logic, Barry wont have any monuments because he's not an Uncle Tom. So are you suggesting that Mays and McCovey were yesmen to the white man?

I don't actually remember Bob Cousy being a black man but maybe I was wrong. My dad who a regular celtic fan during The Russell era has told me in the past that he got mistreated by a few around him but overall he was welcomed in the city because he won and that's all that mattered to most true celtic fans not some crap your trying to spew.

Also just a question would a racist city and team pay huge amounts of money for minority's if they claimed to despise them so much. Using past incidents as your whole basis of comparison is so flawed.

I'm still waiting for will you accept Bonds bashing San Fran when he leaves for The AL?

you mean, there's racism outside of the South?

I don't see where everyone is getting this "Bonds thinks Boston is racist" connection. It was just a Globe reporter asking him if anything would be built with his name. Unless I'm missing something....

yeah, the major bonds-related news story of the past few days has been his boston globe interview, in which he said he would never want to play in boston because it's too racist.

thats where all the boston talk is coming from.

*shocked*

you mean, there's racism outside of the South?

Very different.

Racism up north isn't nearly as violent as it is in the south. Just as damaging culturally and economically though.
