June 25, 200422 yr I've said it once and I'll say it again... Rondell White! or Carl Everett or Danny Bautista
June 25, 200422 yr his numbers on the year .265/.325/.493/.818 12hr 37rbi if we dont give up anything major, why not? those are exactly the kind of numers we should be looking for... the homers dont matter much...i'd take 8 homers....its the rbi's that I want
June 25, 200422 yr I just don't think the FO will be willing to spring for the big guns so either we develop from within or get a decent hitter from another team.. if we choose the latter, Rob fits the bill well. He's been promoted to my sig
June 25, 200422 yr I'm still a big fan of Bautista, but worse comes to worse can try to get this guy, but I would wait 2-3 weeks to make a move to see if anyone else goes on the trading block.
June 25, 200422 yr What we need is a true #3 hitter Miguel isn't a true #3 hitter? No, Cabrera is better suited to hit 4th or 5th. He has good power, but K's way too much to hit in the 3rd spot. He also doesn't have the speed on the bases you might like to have with a #3 hitter. Can Cabrera fill in the #3 spot...sure, but he is not ideal. Can you imagine our line up if we could get a good #3 hitter, and move Cabrera, Lowell and Choi to the 4th, 5th and 6th spots? With Gonzalez and Redmond #7 and #8? The addition of a good #3 hitter will improve 4 spots in our line up. Adding another #7 option does nothing. So what do you suggest? Now that Beltran's gone the only big bat left is Finley, who I'm hoping we'll make a run at, but the chances aren't good that we end up with him. Frank Catalanotto or Danny Bautista. Both are FAs after this year....so we should be able to get them for prospects. those guys aren't even #3 hitters on their own terrible teams.
June 25, 200422 yr 1. Pierre 2. Castillo 3. Cabrera 4. Lowell 5. Rondell White/Carl Everett/Danny Bautista 6. Conine/Choi 7. Gonzalez 8. Redmond ...would be a very nice lineup.
June 25, 200422 yr I wouldnt say he could be a # 3 he is more of a 5-7...... type a guy his numbers dont jump at ya...... i say do it....... but than again i just dont giv a f***
June 25, 200422 yr No No /Choi Just Choi how about http://Choi ? I think thats kinda cool That is acceptable

You should at least look up their stats before making incorrect statements. It only takes a few seconds. Catalanotto has 114 ABs #2, 27 ABs #3 Bautista has 75 ABs #3, second only to 117 ABs #6. So, yes both of them have, and can hit #3. Catalanotto is the best choice IMO. The guy is hitting .357 with RISP. Show me a better candidate.
June 25, 200422 yr Conine is batting .381 vs. LHP... of course its Conine/Choi So Conine would be well suited for platooning with Choi at 1B.

I didn't say they couldn't I said they weren't the normal #3 hitters on their respective teams, and according to your #'s I am correct. Both of those guys would be nice pickups, but they aren't guys who you can just stick in the #3 spot and guarantee better production out of the lineup.

Both of those guys would be nice pickups, but they aren't guys who you can just stick in the #3 spot and guarantee better production out of the lineup. Both are good hitters with RISP and good RBI guys. Catalanotto likes to hit in the 2nd spot, but we have two #1 hitters at the top of the line up, so hitting #3 should be a familiar role. Baustista has been the #3 hitter just about every day in June...so it looks like he has settled into that spot in the line up.
June 25, 200422 yr The strike outs concern me. But otherwise he's a cheap lefty slugging outfielder and would address our lack of depth of outfielders and lefthanded hitters.
