June 26, 200422 yr You're right. I just cut and pasted and forgot we had the DH and a lefty on the mound which means....no way Jack plays Choi. Pierre Mordecai Redmond Lowell Cabrera Easley Conine Gonzalez Castillo Okay, we still need a shakeup after today's mess. Mordy is over 290 vs. lefties the past three seasons and batting 301 in the # 2 spot during the same time period. I move Castillo to # 9 for the same reason I like Castillo 1 and Pierre 2...keep Pierre hitting AFTER Pierre most innings.
June 26, 200422 yr Stag, redmond hitting 3rd is a great idea here are some numbers in his career with bases empty he is hitting .264 career with RISP .303 when batting 3rd, .298, 8 Ks in 84 ABs
June 26, 200422 yr Cabrera needs to be hitting 5th and lowell needs to be hitting 4th someone else needs to take care of the 3 hole
June 26, 200422 yr Here is what I'd like to see. 1) Pierre 2) Castillo 3) Redmond 4) Lowell 5) Choi 6) Cabrera 7) Treanor - DH 8) Sea Bass 9) Conine
June 26, 200422 yr Here is what I'd like to see. 1) Pierre 2) Castillo 3) Redmond 4) Lowell 5) Choi 6) Cabrera 7) Treanor - DH 8) Sea Bass 9) Conine nice looks good to me
June 26, 200422 yr You can't send both catchers out there Let Dontrelle DH why not? If Red goes down, the DH has to go, but what are the odds? You can always use Mordi to catch.
June 26, 200422 yr I would really love to see Dontelle at DH tommorw. I also figure since the team is struggling so much at hitting the ball put all nine names in a hat and draw names to get your starting lineup, right now we should be desperate and do whatever it takes to produce runs to go along with our dominating starting pitching and then we can get some wins.
June 26, 200422 yr 2B Luis Castillo - Our leadoff hitter who will run. CF Juan Pierre - Our leadoff hitter who can't run because teams are attempting 5+ pickoff attempts per at bat. 1B Jeff Conine - If we're going to hit and run use Conine here. Otherwise it's pointless because he'll never get a pitch to pull. RF Miguel Cabrera - Hot at the moment. Needs to improve on some things, but the best bat we have. 3B Mike Lowell - Heh SS Alex Gonzalez - The only one left with some pop. C Matt Treanor - He's caught for Tejera and is a decent enough hitter to give Alex protection. LF Abraham Nunez - If he hits into another inning-ending double play atleast Tejera can hit a bit and runs the bases well. P Michael Tejerrible - Half the bench should be retired and the other half should be in AAA. Let's forfeit the DH and give Michael a chance to do something useful.
June 26, 200422 yr Draw all the names out of a hat. It really doesn't matter where they hit, if they continue to hit like they have recently. :whistle
June 26, 200422 yr I would seriously DH Willis, if nothing else, to send a message to the rest of the team. i agree... :plain
June 26, 200422 yr I would seriously DH Willis, if nothing else, to send a message to the rest of the team. i agree... :plain Actually, this sounds like a great idea. :thumbup The message would come through loud and clear on the bench.
June 26, 200422 yr My only qualm with DHing Willis is if he has an injury. We would be in big trouble.
June 26, 200422 yr My only qualm with DHing Willis is if he has an injury. We would be in big trouble. Every time he hits when he pitches, we take that same chance.
June 26, 200422 yr My only qualm with DHing Willis is if he has an injury. We would be in big trouble. He'll be fine. Just have Jack pull him aside and say "No triples".
June 26, 200422 yr 1. Castillo: In the # 1 slot he is batting .347 and K's 5.3% of the time. In the # 2 spot he is batting .260 and strikes out 12.2% of the time. 2. Pierre: In the # 2 spot he bats .265 and strikes out 7.3% of the time. In the # 1 spot he bats .319 and strikes out 8.8% of the time 3. Mike Redmond: Did you know that Red is 24-82 (.293 average) the past three seasons as a # 3 hitter? How about that he has a .379 average this season when runners are on base and .205 when the bases are empty? If Pierre or Castillo can get on this feeds into Red's numbers. 4. Mike Lowell: Best man for the job. 5. Miguel Cabrera: He batted .320 in this slot in 2003 and according to ESPN has just 3 at bats this season in the # 5 hole and is 3-3. 6. Hee Seop Choi: This spot he is batting .289 and has his lowest strikeout % (21%). Bat him 5th with the same amount of at bats and his strikout % is 32%. 7. Jeff Conine: Funny how this works out but over the past three seasons he is batting .381 in the # 7 hole and this season is 3-5 batting 7th. I thought he had more at bats in the 7 spot but ESPN says no. 8. Sea Bass: I'd rather he bat 7th, but moving Redmond up leaves only the 8 spot for Alex Sounds good. I've wondered at times why Red doesn't get a chance at #3 more often, especially with our current struggle.
June 26, 200422 yr If Dontrelle doesn't DH, we will lose tonight. End of story. Put him #3 then. That would send a message to everybody, not just the bench.
June 26, 200422 yr Donny does have a better batting average then most of the bench anyways. I like Red at third and Choi at 6th..... JP, Luis, Red, Cabby, Lowell, Choi, Treanor, Conine, Gonzo.... Thank god there are no suggestions for GOAWAYNUNEZ
