July 20, 200421 yr Just reported that Padres or Marlins have the best chance. But the Marlins have been working the hardest for him.
July 20, 200421 yr We SHOULD be working the hardest for him. He's what we need more than anything and it's obvious. This is great to hear, because the longer we wait for another outfielder the deeper we'll get. Now, like someone else said, this could potentially enable Choi to bat second. Altough his OBP is .400+, I can't exactly say I'd want him there for the high K's, which obviously means lack of contact to move the runners (Pierre) over.
July 20, 200421 yr Author Now my question is. Where would Steve Finley play? I was thinking he would prob move to RF and move Miguel to LF?
July 20, 200421 yr Yuh i saw it on espn, and the braves want bautista grrr,i really hope we end up with bautista

July 20, 200421 yr thats funny. 466902[/snapback] I don't see why. Pending the free agent class after this upcoming off-season (when Hampton and Rodriguez are off the books) Loria could decide to get Ordonez or even Beltran a year early if there's nobody worth waiting another year for.

I think keeping Pavano is important, but no more important that $7,000,000 a year for three years. Benitez must be kept as well, and I'd like to see Penny and Burnett with 2+ year contracts too. BUT, you can't sit and hope that Hermida will stay on the fast track, and even if he does he may not pan out the way we hope. You can't bank on that.
July 20, 200421 yr nothing like getting a struggling player I hope we dont give up anything major for him

July 20, 200421 yr As much as I'd like to keep everyone and sign Beltran or Mags (or even Hidalgo) it won't happen. I'm praying that we can sign all the starters, and pick up another closer and 1 or 2 more quality relievers cheap. Maybe if we break the bank we can get a $4M/year outfielder like Bautista as a FA.
July 20, 200421 yr Exactly. And Miguel can get comfortable in left field, because Magglio will be in right field next year... The O's will be desperate in the offseason. No one will outbid them.
