Krasnick's take

Featured Replies

in his chat today on ESPN.com, someone basically asked Jerry Krasnick to address every question we discuss in this forum. here was his response:

Ferno04(Miami, FL): In your recent article you address the many flaws with the Marlins, what you fail to mention though is that of any contending team they probably have one of the easiest ships to right. With Burnett back and Beckett hopefully starting next week, the Fish have to have the best rotation in the NL East and one of the very top in the entire league. Their offense although mediocre should be enough to win on most occassions if they can only solidify the pen. Do you think that this offense though could be sent over the hump if Willingham started over Redmond on a more consistent basis? What do yo think of the Fish's efforts to land Finley or Walker? They seem a bit too old and too much in the form of a rent-a-player to really do much. Stokes seems to the dangling bait, would you trade him for a relief pitcher or package him for an outfielder?

Jerry Crasnick: Ferno,

Actually, if you read to the very end, I mention that the Marlins have young starting pitching capable of going on a roll. This is still a scary team. Problem is, when pitching is so important, it's tough to stick a kid like Willingham in there every day in a race. If Walker is healthy and they're willing to spend money, he'd be a huge addition to the middle of their order. But that bullpen is awful after Benitez.

and also....

jerry,Miami: Why are the marlins not trying to inquitre on someone like Brad wilkerson ans Tony Armas. This would help them alot and give up Penny.

Jerry Crasnick: Jerry,

The Expos aren't interested in trading Brad Wilkerson. And the Marlins don't need Tony Armas.

lmao. That guy is an idiot.

the bullpen isn't awful, it just isn't as solid as out SP. Jeez, awful is like the Pirates bullpen. Out bullpen is inconsistant. There is a difference.

Te thing I lvoe about acquiring Walker is how he ISN't a rent-a-player, just like Jeff Conine wasn't. He would be amazing to carry into next season with.

nice sig WC, but we all know you cant hit a fastball either

Just throw me in when we face Eric Milton or something. :lol

I am not certain Walker would be worth the risk. We do have Conine to play if he does get injured, but what would the Rox want in exchange?
