July 30, 200422 yr I got who appear to be Chris Wheeler (play by play) and Admin Andersen (color) calling it for WPEN Radio in Philly. http://home.earthlink.net/~rgarcia1025/AlexGrandSlam.WMA If you listen, please post what you think here. thanks. ENJOY! Note: This is a pretty big file.
July 30, 200422 yr When you make a comment like "for the most part, he's the out in the lineup," you know you are screwing yourself over. Awesome clip.
July 30, 200422 yr I hate Chris Wheeler, I was hoping they would have fired him after the whole harry controversy. Uh btw funny eeehh
July 30, 200422 yr Wow, what a total moron. When you underestimate Seabass, he'll make you pay. Hey Cape, how are you able to record radio clips like this?
July 30, 200422 yr this guy has one of the corniest home run calls of all time. " Forget about that one it's long gone." not only that he repeats the same line on every HR. the call is like one of those bad baseball movies where the play by play SUCKS and the play by play is real corny. that's a line a non baseball fan can come up with. Now, len casper's HR is original. up, up and away sounds better than that crap.
July 30, 200422 yr Author Wow, what a total moron. When you underestimate Seabass, he'll make you pay. Hey Cape, how are you able to record radio clips like this? 482172 I use MLB Gameday Audio's Archives and Windows Sound Recorder. I edit if needed with Windows Movie Maker.
July 30, 200422 yr Author Dave Van Horne is the voice of the Marlins and a very damn good radio man. Len and Tommy are the TV crew, and Boog is the radio alternate. DVH is not boring, back when he joined MLB broadcasting with the Expos he was actually seen as controversial with his "up, up, and away" home run call because it was interpreted after a song which included the term as a sexual reference.
July 30, 200422 yr Now, len casper's HR is original. up, up and away sounds better than that crap. 482188 too bad that isnt his homerun call :plain
July 30, 200422 yr Author Tommy actually got his start with the Expos TV and was paired with DVH. They were baseball's voice in Canada for many years.
July 30, 200422 yr Author Len's call is actually a mixing of the Mets' Gary Cohen ("It's outta here!") and a little of the Cards' late Jack Buck.
July 30, 200422 yr Author Van Horne and the Blue Jays' Tom Cheek called almost every Canadian Major League Baseball game from 1969 to 2000.
July 30, 200422 yr Now, len casper's HR is original. up, up and away sounds better than that crap. 482188 too bad that isnt his homerun call :plain 482204 i know that i'm saying that i rather hear DVH call than that guy. Len Casper has the "DEEP TO LEFT.......................OUTTA HERE."
July 30, 200422 yr Author Len is great for TV. TV viewing fans tend to like Len. DVH is perfect for radio. He has the voice, the homerun call, and he sounds like he isn't hosting a talk show. A radio fan will prefer radio and DVH because of the nostalga of a lost era in the game.
July 30, 200422 yr I continue to go deeper into baseball broadcasting history. 482222 Just breathe....in... out... in... etc,
