August 26, 200422 yr USA defeated Spain, 102 - 94 earlier today. Quite an impressive game. Marbury broke two records. Most points in a game in the Olympics by a male, and most 3 pointers made in a game. (31 and 6) Spain was in the game the whole time but a turnover cost them at the end when they were only down 4. Marbury stole the ball and then drained another 3 to kill any chances Spain had of a comeback. Admin Brown called a timeout with the US up by 9 with under a minute left and the Spain coach was furious. He argued with Admin Brown and shoved his finger in his face as Brown was trying to apologize. Then they argued and both men had to be held back. Admin Brown would have beat his ass. Good game by the US. They face the winner of the Greece/Argentina game.
August 26, 200422 yr USA, USA, USA!!!! I just woke up, saw the results...I didn't expect the USA to beat Spain...Espana had played a heck of a tournament so far! Now anything can happen, can we win gold?! Now, I hope PR wins...how about a USA/PR final.......
August 26, 200422 yr Author Best game by the US so far. Spain are a bunch of sore losers. 526896 Just the coach. Don't say the rest of the team is sore. Everyone else was shaking hands and slapping asses. I'm sure everyone understands why he was upset but it was still disrespectful. He'll probably apologize later.
August 26, 200422 yr Author Woah. China has nailed 3 Three's already. 17-12 with 3:40 left in the 1st quarter.

August 26, 200422 yr Author Halftime. China down by 16. Down them. Playing with my emotions like that.
August 26, 200422 yr I think China is going away on this game 526917 wouldn't surprise anyone...
August 26, 200422 yr Hopefuly PR can win against Italy. Some people are saying that PR lost on purpose against Greece in order to avoid playing Argentina, since they match up better against European teams. We shall see if the strategy pays.
August 26, 200422 yr that was an amazing game!!! i just finished watching it. stephon was the man (i take back demanding for him to sit more). tim was in trouble all game yet they kept bringing it. really great performance and the outside shooting woke up today. the spaniard coach was a complete a**hole and hypocrite. they kept fouling repeatedly to stop the clock yet the US couldnt call a timeout? f*** that.
August 26, 200422 yr some of you amaze me. anyway that was a great game. usa has to have similar performances to win gold. if its argentina v usa in the next round...it could get ugly. very ugly. the spanish coach can goto hell. btw.
August 26, 200422 yr i really cant get over how much theyve improved. they were horrible in the exhibition tour, got destroyed by the PR and instead of quitting and acting like spoiled little boys like the '02 team did after losing to argentina they have obviously worked very hard to improve, get adapted to the international style and gel as a team. this team is flawed but i like that they realize it and theyre working hard to get better.
August 26, 200422 yr Hey allright. So we play Argentina next? Realistically, you had to believe USA, Lithuania, Argentina, Spain and Serbia (maybe) were favorites for the gold.. Some thought Argentina were the favorites to win gold..
August 26, 200422 yr Argentina must beat Greece first. I'm predicting a close game against Greece and Argentina, anything can happen
August 26, 200422 yr Author While the refs have been terrible, I can't put all the blame on them. Puerto Rico can't nail a three, can't get an open shot, and can't knock down a free throw. Italy is just LETTING them stay in it but they can't knock down ANYTHING.
August 26, 200422 yr Author Oh well. Italy has defeated Puerto Rico. I'm proud of those guys though. They beat the crap out of the US and actually made the final 8. Ayuso and Arroyo are the only ones who could make a shot but everyone else was just standing around and watching. Italy played like a team and like the announcers said, they just got a basket whenever they needed one and put the game away. Now I hope Greece loses so Puerto Rico can get some payback against them. GOOD JOB PUERTO RICO! :thumbup
August 26, 200422 yr very though for PR to win when the long shot ain't working. Those guys need to work on basic defense as well. The talent is there, they just need to get better. Arroyo and Ayuso are young players and they can only get better. oh well
August 26, 200422 yr Great performance by the US against a superb Spain team that I didn't think they would beat. I really hope the US doesn't get all cocky now, if you look at in the grand scheme of things, they only won by 8 in a game they shot almost 60 percent from 3 (which I GUARANTEE won't happen again), and i can't imagine Spain hit any more than 40 percent from 3 in that game. I considered the US a slight underdog against Spain, and if all goes according to form here, I'd also consider them a slight underdog against Argentina. Lithuania/Italy will be a great semi game, and USA/Aregentina (assuming Argentina advances) will also be a great semifinal game, should be fun, some great basketball going on in Athens.
August 26, 200422 yr Author Due to the lack of updated scores, I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say that Argentina won 69 - 64.
