Where should the game to be made up be played?

If we must play 2 games on the same day in Chicago, then let's not give anything to the Cubs. Make a deal to use U.S. Cellular Field (a modern baseball facility) for that one game and let the White Sox fans come in dressed up in Marlins stuff. Could you imagine the sales? It would be another Wreck by Veeck type stunt and make it at least a bit fairer.

NOTE: White Sox are on the road that weekend.

Neither, I wasted lots of money to see those games. They need to do something about it and play here. And I remember Loria there WAS NO WAY he was gonna let the Marlins play these games in Chicago.

You didn't waste the money and it's not Loria's call.

What do you honestly think people are going to vote for Cape?

How bout Miller Park.

Or best of all . . . KANE COUNTY!

Admin, it is Loria's call. He just has to get clearance from the Cubs, MLB and the player's union which is looking unlikely.

If it has to be in Chicago, let it be US Cellular or anywhere. As per MLB rules the Marlins can not bat in the bottom frame at Wrigley (2.00 definition of rules, see home team). If we're going to lose the home field advantage and all the revenue, might as well find a way to bat last.

I hate to ask, but are the White Sox home next weekend?

Of course not, right?

No, they're in Anaheim

Put it on the South Side......

A lot of Cubs fans will show up, but I'd also be willing to bet a lot of White Sox fans would show up and root for the Marlins, so at least it's a little more fair if you play it at our park.

One fact that should be noted though is The Cell has been the most home run friendly park in the American League this season, so in that regard playing there won't help you against their big bats, whereas a game at Wrigley in September may involve the winds blowing in, which would hurt the Cubs big boppers.

Let's e-mail David Samson and tell him that Marlins fans don't want Wrigley to get a "home" game. Move the game to US Cellular Field.

Y'know, I hadn't thought of playing it at US Cellular. That is a good idea. Who would get the revenue, though? :shifty

Marlins, White Sox, and City of Chicago would have to work it out. Cubs get the visiting team portion.

I emailed him the other day and asked him to not 'disappoint the hundred thousand who had tickets and turn the wild card race into a mockery by playing one single inning in Chicago.'

I have problems calling US Cellular Field a neutral field. Having the make up games there just allows more Cubs fans to show up since its capacity is larger.

If they cannot be in Miami, then they should be at a truly neutral field out of Chicago.....Miller Park doesnt do it either since that is only about 2 hour drive from Chicago....

Pick any other field that is not is use! LOL

There's alot of reasons why moving a game cross-town in the middle of the day is a near impossible task, most of the logistical, but the fact remains it would provide MLB with a terrific (read big media) spectacle and tons of gross rating points.

One has to believe if the game were marketed properly to White Sox fans, especially their season ticketholders, the Marlins could (forgive the pun) level the playing field.

It won't happen because MLB would never allow it but it's been fun discussing it the last day or so. I love the idea but with MLB guaranteeing the Fish compensation to offset any lost revenue from moving their home game to ChiTown, something as creative as this will never get past the fantasy stage.

Make it up at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, where the Bats play. The game would be sold out and it would be all Marlins fans there. If that's not possible then any of our minor league affiliates where there are Marlins fans. Even if the game is made up in a "neutral" major league stadium, bandwagon Cubs fans are everywhere. Fans in minor league towns LOVE going to games when theres a big name player making a rehab start or something, now they can get the whole team too :D .
