September 15, 200422 yr We lost, obviously, 6-2. Not a good time to lose, but then again, is there ever a good time to lose? Cubs beat Pirates (who are playing with so much intensity these days... :mischief ) 13-5. It is very, very windy here in Chicago. Would be nice if we can take the second game of this double header just to make up some ground again.
September 15, 200422 yr I HATE the Cubs! :thumbup If the Marlins are completely out of it ... I am going to cheer for the Astros, Giants, Padres to a wild card win.. I hope I won't because we are going to win it GO FISH! BUMP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO GOOD!
September 15, 200422 yr Cubs suck. :thumbdown We can't afford to lose any more games, but its not like we could have gone 30-0. So we've gone 14-6 over out last 20....not bad. I have a good feeling 'bout tonights game....I'm leaving soon. LETS GO FISH!

We would need to win 3 of 4 the rest of the way in order to match last season's record of 91-71. But like I said, that may not be enough this time.
September 15, 200422 yr Author I dont know about that, but one thing is for sure - some teams have to start to struggle to give us a better chance. The Astros have gone crazy, I dont get it. But the Giants also? There are a lot of incomplete teams here competing with what I think are more complete teams for the WC. Cubs, Giants - both teams have some holes, the Giants more so. But both dont have to play anybody down the stretch either. Astros at least have to play Cards and the Padres have to play LA right now. We need to take the next two from Montreal just to have a fighting chance at this point. And we need the real Giants and Cubs to stand up.
September 15, 200422 yr Author Oh yeah, and the Phils won today (9-1) too...they are a long shot if anything, but still not good.
September 16, 200422 yr 3.5 back, unless the Brewers get something going...which I'm sure will happen. (sighs) Of course, to complain about any other team not getting the job done would be foolish and stupid after the egg we just laid.
September 16, 200422 yr We'll be fine. Let's hope they come out pissed tomorrow. 560458[/snapback] Or that it's the same eight that have played since the birth of time. Time for some Mordy magic
September 16, 200422 yr Well our team is awesome no matter what people say or where we are in the standings
September 16, 200422 yr I really worry that this insane stretch of games is going to wear them down. We've already been stuck with Logan Kensing starting a game, now Bump had to start, AJ's going to miss his next start so we'll have to get ANOTHER 6th starter, the bullpen is going to see more & more work.... Jack's gotta find a way to keep some guys fresh. (cough cough Easley cough)
September 16, 200422 yr And of course the Burnett injury pretty much assures that we won't be pitching anyone on 3 days rest. So that's 4 more starts from Valdez and 2 by a spot-starter (Friday, Monday).
September 16, 200422 yr While everyone is cursing last place teams playing starting rookies and playing for the future might I remind you that it is far tougher to face a team full of talented rookies fighting for a chance than it is to face a bunch of washed up veterans (Mets) or struggling teams (Phillies, Cubs) distracted by happenings off-field.

September 16, 200422 yr You guys have enough time to take sole possession of that Wild Card. Put a good winning streak and you may find yourselves on top. Go Marlins!

September 16, 200422 yr SF Giants winning today's game. Every team in contention is hot right now. There is no room for error, backs against the wall. Today is a must win in order to stay 3 games out.
