September 19, 200421 yr great where gonna split the double header 564190 That usually happens in double header's.
September 19, 200421 yr but prior is awesome against us 564145 Uh-huh, and what games are you looking at? I say send Trelle on three days
September 19, 200421 yr Author Big change, David Weathers is now going to be starting game 2 and not Aaron Small. Notes: Weathers to start Monday McKeon to give veteran reliever the ball for Game 2 MIAMI -- The last time veteran David Weathers made a start was in 1998 with the Reds. Back then, Jack McKeon was his manager. After pitching out of the bullpen for the past six-plus years, Weathers has been tabbed by McKeon to start Game 2 of Monday's vital doubleheader with the Cubs. "We ain't got too may choices," McKeon said. Aaron Small was the other option, though McKeon thought about going with Dontrelle Willis on three days' rest before having a change of heart. "So many times you get a spot starter to go out and give you a good job," McKeon said. McKeon laughed at his comment because this month, the Marlins are 0-3 relying on spot starters. In those games, the Marlins twice used Class A callup Logan Kensing and reliever Nate Bump. Due to a hurricane-revamped September schedule, the Marlins are finishing the season with 30 games over 27 straight days. Monday's doubleheader will be the team's third in 11 days. Carl Pavano will go in Game 1 against Mark Prior, with Matt Clement getting the ball for Chicago in the second game of the twinbill. Weathers has made 67 career starts. A bulk of those games were in his first stint with the Marlins, from 1993-96. In 1994, Weathers started 24 games, going 8-12 with a 5.27 ERA.
September 19, 200421 yr Excellent choice to have Weathers start against Clement. Now we can go into it believing we have a good chance to take two. This, along with the nice win today should help the psyche of team tomorrow.
September 19, 200421 yr eh? Weathers aint exactly a spring chicken unless you were hinting sarcasm in your post.
September 19, 200421 yr eh? Weathers aint exactly a spring chicken unless you were hinting sarcasm in your post. 564820 I had a feeling Small was going to get shelled. I'm not expecting Weathers to pitch a shut out....but will likely give up 3 or 4 runs and keep us in the game. Against Clement, that should be enough for us to get the W.
September 19, 200421 yr Giving up 3-4 runs is a pretty decent outing, but I agree Weathers is more palatable.
