June 29, 200323 yr Pornography. This is an interesting subject, I was given this idea a little while ago and I am just full of ideas today I guess. The sex business is the oldest business in the world. Pornography is definitely a part of it. What are your thoughts on pornography? Strip clubs? Prostitution? Anything that can be associated with the sex industry. The United States is much more conservative than many of our European counterparts. Should we continue our ways? More liberal? More conservative? Any thoughts you have on anything related to the sex industry be them good, bad or indifferent would be greatly appreciated. If this topic does not generate interest then I dont know what to do.
June 29, 200323 yr Jonny, I admire your ability to start a topic about anything and go into great detail about it. I don't see a need for stricter controls, Johnny. People should be able to do what they want when they want. Why should they be stopped? If they were to be stopped, what methods do you have in mind sir?
June 29, 200323 yr Author I have no methods in mind to stop it. In fact I think we are too damn conservative in this regard. Its almost like Americans preach this idea of withholding sex before marriage, try to ignore the problem concerning sex and then act surprised when teenagers end up pregnant. I do not have the stats, but I am pretty sure that out of developed nations we have one of the highest pregnancy rates for teens. Is this unrelated? I dont think so. I think we should be much more liberal, not only in this subject but in a few other areas as well.
June 29, 200323 yr you should also consider morals. in many religions porn is considered immoral. do we want to be like those heathens in Europe or try to at least give the impression that we are a better society. of course this is not the case, but its a thought consideration, especially when looking at the history of this nation, especially around the time of its founding with the numerous bible thumpers in roles of political power at the time. many times tradition is difficult to change.
June 30, 200323 yr Author morals is always the card played by many be it for anything that can be 'harmful' to the body. it was done during the prohibition era greatly. that is not always the best card to play in an arguement.
July 1, 200323 yr Author well essentially morals is always overplayed. often those playing the morals card are those that do not practice what they preach. the morals card often is the first card played on all issues no matter what. Pornography while not one of your desirable things, is something that should be overlooked, focusing more attention on other more pressing needs of the population. While morally it probably is not the best way to go, this is a decision that people themselves should make, the only restrictions should be placed on minors and not constantly 'attempting to stifle' these things because of they are issues most are not wiling to confront, instead applying the principle that if one does not bring up a subject it can be ignored. Unfortunately the real world does not work that way.
July 1, 200323 yr in many religions porn is considered immoral. I'm not reilgous... :shifty And what, 10% of this country goes to church/Temple anymore anyways. Not many people are that religous. Most people have no idea what's a sin and what isn't, including me. In fact, frankly I don't care. I do believe in having some morals, but most people today brush religion aside.

I don't mean to offend anyone here, but isn't it a little weird that virtually everyone believes and praises this supposid all knowing bean that most likely doesn't exist? Are heaven and hell just to comfort those who are afraid of death? To me, to believe in god is to believe in something that is almost unbelieveable. Aliens maybe, and other things that have yet to be proven, and that may seem ridiculous. To wish and dream and pray to nothing. To go to church and praise this "spirit" that has probably done nothing for you, yet you give in to. I don't know. It just seems a little far feached that there is this surrounding spirit everyhere watching everyone that knws all the answers. Do people believe in this just to not fear death, so when the on the verge of dying they can sit back and convince themselves they are not going anywhere? Are the Christian religions practiced by people who are in complete denial? I don't know. No one does. But those are my thoughts.

July 3, 200323 yr what logical reason do you need? it is god, there is no logical reason to god. it is something so out of this world it just takes faith buddy. maybe you'll go through some hardships in your future that will lead you to believing in something
July 3, 200323 yr I've been through hard-ships in my brief life. Several, in fact. I once was young and naive and believed. I prayed, nothing happened. I prayed again, nothing. Later on I drew the conclusion there was in fact no god at all. No spirit that helped everything and everyone. Nothing was there for me. I guess I am a lost soul. But I don't mind.
July 3, 200323 yr Author YES! This is what I want. Wildcard, never be afraid to express your beliefs no matter what they are. That is what message boards are for. For us to learn from each other. The only way we can do this is by expressing one another's thoughts in print. I saw a topic somewhere a while back. I will attempt to locate it, its from another board, but it was a discussion that I would like to get into. Is it that you do not believe in Christianity? Are you agnostic? Athiest? Nothing at all? Only by expressing our views can we learn from one another as I said. Personally I am Christian. But I also do not go about trying to preach my beliefs on anyone, well except maybe for my offspring but thats for other reasons. If you dont mind Wilcard, please tell us more.
July 3, 200323 yr I am nothing at all. I am not religious, in any religion. I live my life to live it, not to go to church and waste the free time I do have on something I don't believe in.
