Posted October 1, 200420 yr I love the way Kerry said that Osama now thinks we are at war with his religion or whatever since we began our war. Well here's the thing Mr. Kerry...We don't care what Osama thinks!! And America doesn't need to run our country based on what Osama thinks! He doesn't care about America. Pretty even debate though...it's just what your ideologies and values are. But to be a leader you must have a clear idea of what you believe in! And stick to it! Not Flip-Flop, as Senator Kerry has. With Bush, you know where he stands...if you don't agree with him, then you don't agree.
October 1, 200420 yr "I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building." -George W. Bush, 2000 OMG teh flipfl0p!!!1 Everyone changes their mind.

Bush, 2000 OMG teh flipfl0p!!!1 Everyone changes their mind. 577580 Iraq isn't quite the nation building excercise say Somalia would be. Iraq has somewhat modern infrastructure, roads, etc. I'd agree, the military is the wrong tool to build a country from the ground up. 577583 What about the ultra-modern Afghanistan*? I heard it's like the Monaco of SW Asia. :plain *Just playing the devil's advocate

Otherwise your post is correct. Very few were probably swayed from the debate.
October 1, 200420 yr "I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building." -George W. Bush, 2000 Hilarious. I heard that one replayed after we went into Iraq.
October 1, 200420 yr George had me going until he said two words: "Cuba Libre" It all went to hell for me after that. :mad :
October 1, 200420 yr Iraq isn't quite the nation building excercise say Somalia would be. And who sent us into Somalia? Bush, Sr., not Clinton, as a lot of conservatives mistakenly believe. It was Senior's final F-you to Clinton and a bone to his oil buddies all in one fell swoop.
October 1, 200420 yr Please research who and what is going on in Afganistan, The Taliban is re-taking the country. That's what's going on.
October 1, 200420 yr "I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building." -George W. Bush, 2000 577580 The date on this quote? Before 9/11. Shame on Bush for leading the country differently after 9/11.
October 1, 200420 yr George had me going until he said two words: "Cuba Libre" It all went to hell for me after that. :mad : 577749 Er.....why? I was there when he spoke and I enjoyed that part. I think there should have been questions on this hemisphere, but apparently it doesn't exist. And his pronounciation wasn't bad.

Shame on Bush for leading the country differently after 9/11. 577778 The point I was making is that people change their minds. John Kerry isn't the first politician in the world to ever change his opinion.
October 1, 200420 yr John Kerry did not change his mind until he decided to run for President. It was then that he realized he has to disagree with Bush on the big issues and win the anti-Bush demographics vote. He's a s*** bag. He's a puppet. He's a textbook puppet politician. I can see being Anti-Bush folks, but not pro-Kerry. He's going to dissappoint all of you Dem's who vote for him, I PROMISE.

October 1, 200420 yr Please research who and what is going on in Afganistan, The Taliban is re-taking the country. That's what's going on. 577768 Quick question...what on earth possessed you to make such a ridiculous statement? Of course the taliban isnt retaking afghanistan, to think that has no merit on facts whatsoever and you're just throwing out hor air

October 1, 200420 yr Please research who and what is going on in Afganistan, The Taliban is re-taking the country. That's what's going on. 577768 Um.....tell that to NATO.
October 1, 200420 yr Quick question...what on earth possessed you to make such a ridiculous statement? Of course the taliban isnt retaking afghanistan, to think that has no merit on facts whatsoever and you're just throwing out hor air They're still in Kandahar, and still fighting. They almost took out Karzai with a missile. Until a proper number of troops is sent in there to finally crush the Taliban and disarm the warlords, that country is going to keep backsliding.
October 1, 200420 yr Ummm, Somalia was a pure relief effort during Bush v1.0's term - provide security for the food distribution efforts. Yeah, he ordered 25,000 troops into Somalia, and didn't have any sort of exit strategy (sound familiar?). He said it wasn't an open-ended commitment, yet the guy was leaving office in 1 month. Did he seriously think he was going to stabilize a country in 1 month? It was Billary that turned it into a hairbrained military op to try and reshape the country by going after Aidid.? It was only after Aidid started killing the UN Peacekeepers, did it become a military op. I agree that Clinton messed it up - he should've brought in more troops if he was going to attempt that, but Bush Sr. was the reason we were even there in the first place. Oh, and the nation-building objective was NATO objective, not a Clinton objective.
October 1, 200420 yr And the UN had nothing whatsoever to do with it eh? Curious, most curious indeed. I do believe I'm talking to a genuine practicioner of revisionist history. The UN doesn't order US troops to do anything. The guy knew he was leaving and wouldn't be able to see this thing through, yet he decided to drop it in Clinton's lap.
October 1, 200420 yr Taliban are still around attacking. Which means after we leave, it will be fragile Aghan leadership still plagued by the warlords against them. That sure did work out well last time didnt it? Oh, and Pakistan wont be hands off on this. Maybe not in the open, but the Taliban wont be alone. http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/5009637.html http://paktribune.com/news/index.php?id=78950 http://www.boston.com/news/world/middleeas...ence_escalates/ http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?p...1-10-2004_pg1_3

If Bush didnt play textbook politics he would lose...plain and simple. You allow the propagandists a victory when you believe otherwise.

And because he doesn't worry about poll numbers or other countries... he's got less support. Dare I say he's too... American to lead?
October 1, 200420 yr What I find funny is your signature CF. Bush most likely hasnt been behind the wheel of a vehicle in years and he is a sorry excuse for a Texan by and by. Bush is just like most politicans in that he consistently lies and doesnt tell people the truth, which disqualifies from him from being a true Texan right there.

October 1, 200420 yr I really feel bad for the people that are being duped by Bush. He is no cowboy or "country man" CF, he is just using that to make you think he is. It is an "image" ploy. I can tell you one thing, for all the "Elite" jokes they throw on Kerry, they apply more to Bush and his family than anybody else. He has always been and always will be a "Rich Kid" who hides behind daddy's pants. Unfortunately, you saw that kid without his "daddy" last night, :lol
