Gammons on the All-Star Game

Featured Replies

He chose Alex Gonzalez and Mike Lowell to start the All-Star game, with Dontrelle on his list of people that deserve it...

The All-Star voting

Watching some players fill out their part of the All-Star ballot ... put it this way: Those guys on the Internet will do the best job.

Anyway, for what it's worth, here's one man's ballot:

1B: Delgado, AL. Todd Helton, NL. Not a lot of thought there.

2B: Bret Boone, AL. Jose Vidro, NL.

3B: Hank Blalock in a very close call over Corey Koskie in the AL. Mike Lowell in a walk in the NL.

SS: Nomar Garciaparra leads Alex Rodriguez in most everything but homers, while in the NL a brutally tough call for Florida's Alex Gonzalez (.912 OPS, six errors) over Edgar Renteria, Rafael Furcal and Orlando Cabrera. The National League is now loaded with shortstops.

OF: In the AL, Vernon Wells in center -- no-brainer. Garret Anderson. Ichiro Suzuki. Melvin Mora and Milton Bradley are second and eighth in the league in OPS respectively. In the NL, Gary Sheffield, Albert Pujols, Barry Bonds (whose OPS is higher than Pujols) and Jim Edmonds. Let Barry DH.

AL DH: Edgar Martinez. Kevin Millar is right behind.

C: Jorge Posada and Javy Lopez.

To add, 10 players I'd love to see at the game:

1. Aaron Boone, Cincinnati. He deserves it.

2. Bradley, Cleveland. He's played hard most of the season, and he's certainly talented enough.

3. Randy Wolf.

4. Mora. No doubt.

5. David Wells.

6. Paul Lo Duca.

7. Willis.

8. Brendan Donnelly.

9. Jason Varitek.

10. Rocco Baldelli.

listening to Gammons last night on BBTN was REFRESHING. He was acutally calling Lowell a "hero to south Florida" and that "they probably won't deal him." It was a nice change of pace from the "Who's going to get Lowell" talk.

More media favortism means more attention to the team, which means more exposure to the rest of the country, which means more Dontrelle Jerseys sold, which means more revenue for Jeff, which means WE KEEP LOWELL

If you guys see any Dontrelle Jerseys @ PP let me know! I'm in. They'd probably be there before the net so gimme a heads up!

PPS really doesn't have good Marlins gear. Try the Marlins en Miami store. You can call them at (305) 442-8776 and ask if they have any Dontrelle Jerseys. They are in Little Havana and you can go pick it up or have it mailed to you.

Gammons is a joke. A week ago he strongly (in a table pounding manner) stated that Lowell trade to the Cubs before the trade deadline was innevitable.

I hope he is right this time, stating that Lowell is here to stay.

I'll check it out. Have to get it mailed to Cracky though. I love dw but im not down for the drive just yet

Gammons just reflects what ever the current rumor mill is throwing out there. One night he says Lowell is retiring from baseball to go work in porn movies, next night he says Lowell is staying in Miami for free.....

Good ol' President Jackson just blows in the wind. He doesn't know anything more that what I've seen posted on these boards.... Maybe he should just read a few selected quotes from here every night and attribute it as one of his "sources".

Damn Oompa Loompa.

Check out www.floridamarlins.com for authentic MLb gear as well for all the players.

I hope he is right this time, stating that Lowell is here to stay. I'll agree he is a joke most of the time, he is in the Media. In being so, he needs to be the first one to break the trade (any trade) IF it happens. So he and others in his circle will always teeter on the brink of saying its about to happen. They are also quick to backtrack too when the trade looks unlikely (lowell). The media does report facts but they report way more rumors, Why? So you and I will watch and then bit#$ about it!

Hehe, the funny thing about all of this is that the Cubs fans take Gammons comment regarding Lowell as gospel truth. I guess there will be some dissapointed Cubs :skippy

2000 was Florida, but Henry said he didn't want it and they gave it to Atlanta.
