Gammons on the All-Star Game

Featured Replies

Hehe, the funny thing about all of this is that the Cubs fans take Gammons comment regarding Lowell as gospel truth. I guess there will be some dissapointed Cubs :skippy

I already posted it on a Cubs board...

Ramp, I posted it on the WrigleyLounge... I belive you are registered there... what was their reaction??

We need a guarantee for a new ballpark by the end of this year, because it will be awarded by the end of this year. Then Loria and Co. must bid for it. (No $$$$4, but they must be able to convince MLB they will be ready)

2006 is pending the new St. Louis Ballpark. If it is not ready, an emergency change will be needed. :mischief2

How many team sites are you guys registered on? Just curious

The marlins official site, ESPN in general, this, Redzone.com, and WrigleyLounge (I forget the actaul name of the site)

you cant get a jersey at eastbay.com, with any player and number, for $100..... but they are last year's jerseys(unless they have been recently updated)

Just saw the official site has 12 (thats right - 12) different marlins jerseys to choose from. U can customize 2 (black bp & grey road) for $108. Kinda pricey but a #35 Willis would be AWESOME

2000 was Florida, but Henry said he didn't want it and they gave it to Atlanta.

what do you mean Henry said he didn't want it? It was Selig that took it away, Henry actually was pretty upset about it from what I remember. If he was so upset why didn't he try to stop it? I've got to beleive that an agreement as big as hosting an all-star game has to have some type of contractual agreement binding it together, but Henry didn't pursue legal remedy to seek a resolution.

I think Henry was already in bed with Bud by that time and they had a little back-room agreement - Henry doesn't rock the boat and Bud helps him get out of FL.

Kind with opions basically the same. Gammons always changes his mind about everything. he just goes with the flow of what's going on.

2000 All-Star Game shifted from Florida to Atlanta. Citing concerns over the stability of the Marlins, MLB has moved the 2000 All-Star Game from Miami's Pro Player Stadium to Atlanta's Turner Field. John Henry, the Marlins' new owner, wasn't happy, calling the decision "outrageous... shocking... disappointing." MLB hinted that Florida would be considered again if it built a new, baseball-only stadium.

Fish Fillet's point could still be true, who knows. At the time, Henry made a pretty big stink about it though.

Gammons just reflects what ever the current rumor mill is throwing out there. One night he says Lowell is retiring from baseball to go work in porn movies...

I heard he will known as "Lowell the Pole."

Any truth?
