October 13, 200421 yr I did go to about 6 or 7 other teams and looked at the benefits and unless you are a full season holder you do not recieve most of the 'benefits'. Basically what they are is that you get a primo parking spot and option for playoff tickets. There are others like 10% discount at store shop and things like that. Besides at the beginning of this thread PB said he received an album on 'memories'. You mentioned Boston and Yankees. These people pay significantly more than Marlin fans do. You want the benefits then lets have their prices. That sounds ok? How do you know this is not on baseball decisions and less economic decisions. For all you know Loria is planning on raising the payroll to $70 million. Have you seen published reports saying that Loria or Samson have been quoted they will not be raising payroll? It sounds to me like you expect this team to be the Yankees and Red Sox and just buy everyone. We are a small market team. We cannot afford real big name free agents, but building a team intelligently to win might work like 2003. They built that team intelligently. Now trading for Sammy Sosa and signing Brad Radke to a 10 million dollar deal does not do much for the team. You have to spend it wisely not blindly throw out money at the 'biggest names' out there. Well no matter what you are going to get your wish because this is do or die offseason for the Marlins when it comes to the stadium issue so I guess no matter what you get your wish to end the cycle. I don't see where your hate for Loria is coming from. He has done nothing but good so far. He brought Pudge, they made an attempt to sign Roger Clemens, two winning seasons. Only raising ticket prices once. Raising payroll each of the years he has been here. This year he will probably raise payroll a small amount more. I know he has a bad history with the Expos, but until this man turns his back on the city and says we're moving to Las Vegas, I will believe in him. 591061 Well (I don't have the money either way), I'll pay the Sox/Yank price if my GM is allowed to get all the players they are. Here's a topic I found on next year's payroll
October 13, 200421 yr Can someone post single game ticket prices for all sections? $12 for the Fish Tank is about the lines of other teams. 591062 Now remember that Tropicana is a true ballpark in layout, but look at the prices: http://tampabay.devilrays.mlb.com/NASApp/m...ing_pricing.jsp 591064 Here are the Twins at the MetroDome: http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...ark_seating.jsp 591067 Oakland anyone? http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...ark_seating.jsp Now remember PPS is the Dolphins' football stadium first and every seat has a back and there are no bleachers. 591072 Boston: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bo...ark/seating.jsp Yankees: http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...ark_seating.jsp Dodgers: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/NASApp/m...ing_pricing.jsp Royals: http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...ark_seating.jsp 591076 Why can't all of this be put in one post?
October 13, 200421 yr Then combine them in one post later, or be patient and wait to have it all in one post. It's a bore to read 5 straight posts by one person. /rant

And when they dramatically raise prices, shouldn't one expect a more competitive team? Isn't it the point to be competitive?
October 13, 200421 yr Juanky, you seem to be bitching about payroll then this price hike. This was to be expected. If you didn't see this coming, you are blind.

October 13, 200421 yr I know this does not seem fair, but you guys are spoiled. Marlins have some of the lowest ticket prices in the league. What are the numbers to prove it went up 133% Not that I don't believe you but that would be an incredible amount of money 590634 Last year 2 adults, 2 kids, 20 game plan, upper deck $380 Next year, same seats, same plan $840. 590654 Holy s*** thats crazy. Last year me and my friends paid $450 for 3 adult tickets, 20 game plan in the upper deck. That means its going to be well over $800 this season. f*** that. Screw you guys I'm staying home.

Serously, you can pay nothing and go to games, i just buy kids tickets and pay nothing (4-6 dollars). Even if you pay adult prices, you might only find one or two teams where you can pay 8 or 10 dollars to get into a game. the reason we are mad is because for the past 4 years we have paid 5-6 dollars for fish tank. If any team wash charging 8-10 for a ticket they would sell ot evey game. So dont complain
October 14, 200421 yr Author Prices have more than doubled. Substantially eliminated the flexibility with the plan. Only a $2 discount from individual game prices. Where's the incentive to be a season ticket holder? I'll pay as I go next year. A good portion of the attendance last year was the guaranteed tickets from season ticket holders, whether they showed or not. Some games there were likely more than 5K paid, yet empty seats. Look for attendance to drop from 1.7 to 1.4M next year. Is this going to help justify a new stadium? The strategy of keeping prices down to get more fannies in the seats this past year yielded a substantial increase in attendance/fan base. Looks like they are going to back track next year....and blame it all on fickle fans.

A more modest raise of 25% each year would be more prudent.
October 14, 200421 yr pb fan I know that you are mad because you have to pay alot more put the marlins should make more money from the 1.4 mil you say vs the 1.7 this year.
October 14, 200421 yr I posted this in another thread but it acutally makes more sense to put it here. Sometimes teams are not better off selling out (or having a higher capacity). For example 10,000 fans paying 10 dollars at ticket = 100,000. Then when you increase price (supply and demand here) the amount of fans should decrease. But if you have 8,000 fans paying 15 dollars a ticket = $120,000. So the team would make 20,000 dollars more by having 2,000 people less. This is just an example, and I am not trying to take the marlins side, because I too like paying less for tickets. 590705 That is incorrect, because you would quickly make back that ~20k by having a sellout game with cheaper prices because more people would be forced to pay the automatic $10 for parking, more people would pay the already ridiculous food prices, and more people would buy merchandise.

Because the marlins do not make a large portion of parking. also those who do go to games would have more money than those turned off from the high prices aka Income effect. Those that have more income tend to buy more of all normal goods (baseball tickets, beer, food, etc...) whereas those who do not have that much incone would tend to buy less. Therefore those who do go will buy just as much food/bev as they would have.

But the full price of the ticket translates into direct revenue for the club. For parking, most of it goes elsewhere(as we know :banghead ) and things like catering is probably run by a stadium contractor who have paid a one-off fee for supplying and would therefore take the extra revenue. The new prices still represent good value IMHO.

The people will come back just like 2003 once the Marlins are right in the thick of things. I don't think the real complaint is that the individual games are ridiculous, its that the season tickets have increased to probably just below league average. It is just that there was such awesome prices before. I feel that after a year that people will go back to the norm and realize that even though the higher prices they are still saving money on the games they go to and a good amount of money. It all comes down to what ownership does this offseason. Bring us a team that can compete for the World Series, I doubt that many people care about the season ticket stuff.
October 14, 200421 yr In Boston, they send autographed stuff to season ticket holders (like my cousins) based on the amount of time they've been with the team. 591040 The Marlins are offering numerous incentives to renew your season tickets early, I don't have my season ticket renewal information right next to me but if you renew before December 1st you get an autographed item depending on the amount your season tickets cost. The more expensive your season tickets cost, the better the autographed item you receive is, for example someone that buys season tickets in the fish tank gets and auto'd World Series program (not sure by who) and someone that buys season tickets in the founders club gets an autographed bat (again, not sure by who). Also last year they were offering a promotion where if you bought a mini-plan (I think it was the 20 game plan) you would get a free hat autographed by Jack McKeon, although current season ticket holders didn't get jack s***. I'm not really complaining about there being crappy benefits, but it just pisses me off when the Marlins advertise they have the BEST season ticket benefits in baseball, that's just not true at all and far from it. I had the 41 game flex plan last year in the founders club which was great, I could pick and choose any game I wanted to go to. This year there is no more 41 game flex plan, only a mon-thurs flex plan or a weekend plan because of the difference price levels for different games on different days there is no longer a flex plan. I'm just going to get the weekday monday-thursday 41 game flex plan and for the couple of games that I want to see on the weekend i'll buy just buy individual tickets. I'm definitely renewing my season tickets next year and i'm just going to hope the FO comes through and acquires a big name free agent or pulls off a blockbuster trade. Beinfest pulled off a huge deal at the trading deadline when everyone thought we were going to concede the season and no moves would be made, let's hope the FO surprises us again.
