I dont get it, why does everyone call him Sea bass?...while we are on him...he did fine yesterday, drove in a couple, but he has been slumping, maybe he is out of it, but i think Jack needs to give him a days rest....like he did with lowell then the next day lowell came with two Bombs..remember??, A-Gon, or Sea bass  , might be a little fatigued, i would give him today off.....

I believe the nickname came when Kevin Millar and Alex Gonzalez played in 1997 in AA. Once they both got to the majors, of course, the name stuck.

Perhaps Millar's high-jinx wasn't appreciated by all in the clubhouse? Could Alex's breakout year have something to do with the departure of Mr. Millar?

Just a hunch.

:whistle

Everyone loved Millar. But when this nickname first came out it wasn't designed to be flattering. It just turned from insult into hi-jinx after awhile and Alex accepted it. Kind of like someone calling the big fat guy "Slim".

I had a dream last night we didn't trade Preston or sell Millar and had an outfield including those two + Enc. And we were 3 games behind the Braves in the East and 1st in the wild card with the 2nd best offense in the NL. And almost for the same payroll if you subtract Pudge's contract.
