November 5, 200421 yr Do we really need THREE leadoff hitters? I'd LOVE to get Ichiro, but we've already got JP who is the national league version of Ichiro and we've already got Luis who would be the #1 man on any other team. Which brings up another point, can we even afford him? How much is he making or due to make? Now that Edgar is gone, Ichiro is the face of the Mariners and he is there franchise player, even though the Mariners probably won't make the playoffs for years to come you don't trade away a player like Ichiro for the sole purpose of cutting salary.

November 5, 200421 yr First of all, Ichiro is exponentially more marketeable in Seattle than he is here, so Seattle has no reason to get rid of him. Secondly, when the Mariners were cleaning house at the deadline, they said that they'd listen to offers on "anyone but Ichiro." So what made them do a 180 on that? Finally, to get it, we'd likely have to give up Pierre and Encarnacion...thanks but no. IMO, Pierre and Encarnacion > Ichiro and Aguila.
