If you move out of the country and move back, you have to wait 15 years to run for president. IMO the best idea would be to be you have to have been living in the US for 35 years to run for president

November 17, 200421 yr Well, the founding fathers basically pulled 35 out of their asses. As you learn more and more about the Constitutional Convention of 1787, you find out that alot of the stuff we hold paramount was the founding fathers doing the funniest things. They invented the 25, 30, and 35 numbers out of no where. Also, you know how the Senate is divided so only a third is up for election at a time? They drew straws to decide how it was done. Most of the powers of the presidency exist because they knew George Washington was going to occupy the position, they basically drew it up around him. It was written so that you had to be either born in the United States OR have gained citizenship before the Constitution was ratified (obviously irrelevent now) to be able to run for President. Hamilton wrote the Article on the Presidency, he saw to it that he'd be able to be run. He probably would have been President too, if the VP hadn't killed him. No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.
