November 25, 200421 yr pirates would get: arthur rhodes and mark redman A's would get: jason kendall espn.com good trade discuss
November 25, 200421 yr Does that mean the Bucs get to unload his entire salary? If they have to pay a cent its a bad trade.
November 25, 200421 yr You would think the A's can't afford that type of money. The Bucs probably gotta pay some.
November 25, 200421 yr yeah...that sucks for the bucs, hey that kinda rhymes 621395 :lol good observation!...lol
November 25, 200421 yr yeah...that sucks for the bucs, hey that kinda rhymes 621395 yeah...that's sucked for the bucs for the last 10 years. I hope the Marlins never get into their situation.

November 25, 200421 yr Good trade for Oakland and Kendell. The Pirates will suck, but will probably still sweep the marlins again.
November 25, 200421 yr Stupid move for the Pirates. Unless they are not having to pay a penny (which I doubt) they could have unloaded his entire salary on the Yankees when the Yankees eventually blink and agree to trade Jorge to the D'Backs for RJ. Yankees would take Kendall and assume his entire contract, but the Bucs wouldn't get superb quality in return. Although, Redman and Rhodes aren't exactly superb either. If I'm the Bucs, I'd have at least waited to see how the RJ/Posada and the Boston/Varitek stuff plays out, because either of those teams (and the Mets, but who knows what they're doing) could be in severe need of a catcher and leadoff/2-hole hitter...Kendall fits that mold.
November 25, 200421 yr It's not that bad of a move for the Pirates, they free up like 15 million for the next 3 years, that's 5 million a season. Redman can be a solid middle of the rotation guy in the NL and if Rhodes can contribute at all, they would have 5 million more every season for 3 seasons to upgrade other parts of their team by getting rid of the Kendall contract. It was a trade of bad contracts, Oakland got a better player but the Pirates have alot more money to spend.
November 25, 200421 yr Well I dont think the Pirates will be paying much of Kendall's contract. Both Redman and Rhodes make a good amount of money. Redman 2005: $ 4.25 2006: $ 4.95 Rhodes 2005: $ 3.07 2006: $ 3.07 Kendall 2005: $ 9.50 2006: $10.50 2007: $12.50

November 27, 200421 yr Odd move for the A's to take on this contract when their cross-town rivals are looking at some hard years coming up. You'd think they'd want some flexibilty to remain competitive.
