Here's a thought on the O's deal

Featured Replies

What if the Marlins are getting the O's involved so they could end up with Hudson?

I know the Marlins love LHP B.J. Ryan and RHP John Maine(highly rated prospect), so they could just settle for a package of Maine or Hayden Penn, Bedard and Ryan

or...

Here's something what if the Marlins plan to move AJ/Juan E to the O's for LHP B.J. Ryan or Erik Bedard, RHP John Maine and .....2B Brian Roberts or 2B J. Hairston Jr.(who's playing out of position right now).

WHY a 2B? because you turn around trade him to Oakland for a Hudson

Oakland wants a 2B in the deal, if its Giles in Atlanta or 2B prospect of the Dodgers. The Marlins don't want to trade Castillo, and I wouldn't either. O course more player(or prospects) would have to involved, but you'd have a solid 1#, a outstanding lefty in the bullpen or a future 2# in your rotation.

just a thought :hat

Now Admin [beinfest].....GET THIS DONE!!!!!

Funny, I was on the Orioleshangout.com board all morning discussing just this subject.

There's an article with teal's ideas in the Sun today or yesterday by Eisenberg.

can someone explain to me how we are better off with Hudson than with AJ? both are only around for one more year, and then if they're any good at all in 2005 they become unsignable free agents, and thus no good to us (see: Pavano). to me, the only reason trading AJ now makes sense is if we can lock in someone long term at a reasonable price before the free-agency hits the fan in 2006 (which was the only reason Vazquez made any sense at all).

AJ has had clashes with front office and continues to say how he doesnt like playing in front of small crowds. He doesnt want to be here.

We would probably have a better chance of resigning Hudson especially if we have a good year. Also Hampton and Pudge are out next year so we will have money to spend.

We would also gain a great lefty out of the pen and a future man in the rotation.

We already have Alfonseca and Jones, no pressing need for Ryan even if he's a great pitcher and a lefty.

We don't need Maine. We already have the Jupiter Five plus Tankersley and Vargas and the 2005 draft picks coming up.

Shoot for Jay Gibbons and Jerry Hairston (two players they've been shopping publically) and one of their half-dozen young pitchers (Bedard, Bauer, Cabrera, Riley, Parrish, Borkowski) to fill out the rotation. Then you can trade Castillo or Pierre (Hairston can play CF) for a front-line pitcher.

You don't get the room under the salary cap, but you do get players in return who are better, younger and cheaper than you can find in free agency.

I like the deal but man, dealing AJ is tough but Tim Hudson is a better pitcher right now even though AJ has more talent but on paper Hudson has posted up great numbers and BJ Ryan is a good reliever which we need.

you would be crazy to think that AJ has more talent than Hudson

Gibbons is having yet another physical tomorrow, so worrisome is his physical wellbeing. He may be cut rather than make it to arbitration. Too bad too for a guy who plays that hard and showed so much in 2003.

I guess im crazy to because Aj is better than Hudson.

enlighten me

The Orioles front office is pathetic, expect them to trade Miguel Tejeda for Juan Encarnacion. :banghead

Hudson is a better pitcher, there is no arguing this.
