December 17, 200421 yr The New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors are in serious talks about a trade that would send Vince Carter to the Nets, several league sources told ESPN Insider Chad Ford on Friday. The Raptors would acquire Alonzo Mourning, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams and two first round draft picks in exchange for Carter. According to those same sources, the talks have moved to the point that they could be finalized before the end of the day. If the trade goes through, it would be the most serious indication yet that the Nets want to keep Jason Kidd and are willing to build a championship contender around him. After the offseason trades of Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles, Kidd expressed his displeasure with the direction the Nets were taking. Carter is currently on the injured list with a strained left Achilles' tendon last Friday and is to miss at least five games, including the two Raptors games he had missed through Thursday. thats a pretty big deal considering the 2 first round draft picks.... I still think I like this move for the Nets... give Kidd and Richardson another running mate
December 17, 200421 yr Thats a pretty good deal for the raptors, those 2 picks sound veeeeryyy good. they should do it.
December 17, 200421 yr Wow thats a lot for an injury prone Guard. If I was the Nets I wouldnt do it but I'd be estatic if I was the Raptors.
December 17, 200421 yr WOW, the Raptors won't find a deal better than this. All the Nets fans are pissed about the team moving to Brooklyn, selling off most of their good players, etc. If Vince can stay healthy, this deal should put the Nets back in good standing with their fans :whistle .
December 17, 200421 yr the nets are idiots...lets say VC gets hurt...then you got nothing...pull the trigger if the the raptors..do it now.

Plus Zo is a good center for 20-25 minutes a game which they could really use.

December 17, 200421 yr The Nets aren't going anywhere, so why did they make this trade. Who knows what they could have gotten with those draft picks.
December 17, 200421 yr Alright, wait a second here. Supposedly, the Heat turned down a VC for Eddie Jones deal. So, by the transitive property of WTF, does this mean Eddie Jones is worth more than Zo, Eric Williams, Aaron Williams, and two first rounders??? Cause I'd have dealt EJ for that in a nanosecond.
December 17, 200421 yr Author I happen to like this move for the Nets and dislike it for the Raptors...
December 18, 200421 yr This trade is perfect for both sides. How is this a steal for the Raptors? The value in the deal obviously favors the Nets. The talent side of the deal is so one sided its crazy. The only reason the Raptors made the deal was so that they could hopefully rebuild sometime down the road. The Nets gave up NOTHING! Aaron Williams was playing 3 minutes a game, and was hidden on the Net bench. Alonzo Mourning is once again, falling apart. The guys body cannot withstand the long hall anymore. Not to mention his crazy contract. Eric Williams is a solid roleplayer, and IMO is the 2nd best player moving in this deal behind Vince. The ages of these three players? 34,33, and 32... ... And just so you people who say the two first round picks makes the deal for the Raps -- They are lottery protected. The Raps wont sniff a top 14 pick with those draft picks. They are also the Sixers and Nuggets picks by the way. The talent in the deal clearly favors the Nets, the Nets give up nothing for a risky something. The deal came down to the Raps wanting to rebuild, so they got rid of Vince as fast as they could. The deal came down to the Nets wanting to take a risk and hope Vinsanity can stay healthy, if he can the Nets will be in firm competition for an EC title (assuming they also make a trade for a big man, like expected). Period.

December 18, 200421 yr Pretty good triple threat IF healthy. My avatar and sig is pretty outdated now. :lol
