Both. I don't deny evolution is happening, it's there for the taking. I just believe someone had to start it all up. There's too many amazing things all around us for it all to just be a cosmic accident. And even if it was a cosmic accident, who put the cosmos there in order for it to be a big accident? There had to have been something.

We say someone only because its human nature to apply human characteristics to a suprmee being. But in fact this creator doesnt have to be a being, it can simply be a large energy force. Bu this energy was what started the creation of the universe and is what keeps it expanding today. this energy force has been made 'human' by us but that is what God is. (this of course does not include jesus)

Well what started X, and how did X begin? Because something had to set it in motion, something had to cause it. Everything has a cause. Well then it all must've started because G set it in motion. Ok, but what started G? What created it or set it in motion? Nothing, because it doesn't follow the rules somehow. It's outside the rules. Ok, but then if nothing caused G, then by definition everything does not need a cause because G did not need a cause.

 

So then the original question of "well what started X" doesn't demand such a clear answer..... Hell, maybe there was no "beginning" per se. Could be that the big bang was just preceeded by a big crunch, & before that was another one, & so on. Infinity is a concept I find no more difficult to grasp than an omnipotent omniscient deity.

Heh, we act like we know, but humans can't grasp the concept of infinity.... very true.

I can barely grasp the concept of Carlos Delgado being a Marlin, much less infinity.

Yep, its simply amazing to think. The more you wrap your mind around it, the more empty one can feel. This is the ultimate role of God IMO, not as a creator or watcher, but as one we created to protect us from the reality of infinity.

 

Here is something else too that always gets me. It can be sobering and eye opening to realize how infinity can go in two directions in increasing expansion and microscopic detail. Like looking at your hand and knowing it is made of molecules which are made of atoms which are made of protons, nuetrons, and electrons which are made of quarks which are made of X which are made of....it can never end which means all things around us are infinate. While at the same time looking to the sky and knowing it can never really end too.

 

Perhaps our greatest weakness is that we are trapped in the mindset of linear thinking.
